Please can I have all the tips!!
Ideally I don’t want hormonal contraception and there a 4 month waiting list for a copper coil which i was going to get

i had my baby 5 weeks ago so extremely fertile. I’ve seen about tracking temperature
if you do this:
what’s your temp usually and before/during ovulation?
do you take your temp orally? When to take it? Any thermometer you recommend or will any do?

if you have had a baby and use a period tracking app to give estimated fertile window etc, how soon after birth did you get your first proper period back to start doing this? I’ve been having stop start bleeding since after birth so worried I won’t know when it’s actually the first period.

any other tips you have please comment!

The tracking partly depends on establishing a pattern so you will need to take your temperature and track bleeding pattern possibly for a few months until things become clear by which time you will have the coil. Obviously you can and should use condoms as well for this time but if you really don’t want to fall pregnant and are likely to have sex it might make sense to use effective contraception in the knowledge that it is short term.

@yikesanotherbooboo I’m sort of second guessing the coil as my consultation with the gp was basically just him saying as I already have heavy periods he doesn’t think it’s the right option for me as it can make them even heavier, hence deciding what to do as I don’t want hormonal😣 we can obviously just use condoms but id rather explore other options (if there is any!!🙄) it took 4 years to conceive this baby and I’ve never been on anything before, although it took ages to conceive him (no fertility issues found, we was left with no answers but luckily it happened for us) I’m aware it could be quicker the second time round and I certainly don’t want 2 under 1😂

Well condoms plus natural rhythms can be very effective if you have a regular cycle and avoid piv at the fertile part of the month. They are easy to abandon when or if you want to try for another baby. If you have a sexual health clinic in your area or a GP
with a special interest at your practice you could have a consultion to help you to weigh up your options.
