Period problems

Hi, I’ve always had horrid periods since a teen. I’m 30 now, I have 3 children. Currently got the nexaplanon implant (last contraception was the Mirena coil and I had extreme pelvic pains every day because of it)
anyway, I’ve been back and forwards to drs. Currently taking Mefenamic Acid.

my periods can be heavy, very heavy. But also sometimes really light just like spotting.
They are so irregular. Some months I spot for 3-5 days. Some months it’s heavy for 7+ days. Sometimes I go 2 weeks before getting another period again. Sometimes I miss one fully (last time this happened was 2/3 months ago, I missed 3 months of periods then bled for almost 4 weeks straight.
they are SO painful. I cannot stand the pain. I don’t really know what to do. Been to drs a few times and they just palm me off every time.
Does anyone have any suggestions please?
thank you

Sorry I forgot to add.. sex is painful, every time. The doctors said a few months ago that I had a cervical ectropion but nothing was ever done about it/they didn’t check back up on it again.

Ask for blood tests & a referral to gynae. You need some scans etc check for endometriosis, adenomyosis, fibroids. If they fob you off just keep pushing.

You need a diagnosis first and foremost along with a gynaecologist referral and a laparoscopy to see if endometriosis is present. Deep pain during sex is a marker for endometriosis.

irregular periods can be caused by PCOS and that can be detected via blood tests and internal ultrasound scans to assess the state of the ovaries.

Do keep a daily pain and symptom diary particularly if you do not already do this.

Blood tests and scans do not readily detect endometriosis if it is present. As waiting lists for gynaecologists are miles long in many areas I would consider going private if you can for an initial consultation.

I found those tablets did nothing for the pain either.

You will need to be persistent in order to get answers.

Update! I saw the doctor last week. She was quite patronising, asked me what I thought and as soon as I mentioned endo she said “well the only way to find that out is invasive surgery and the only treatments available are extra contraception, which I’m giving you today, and hysterectomy which surgeons won’t want to do because your only 29”.
I am on the implant right now, she said she thinks it’s that that is causing me the problems. I told her I’ve had these problems on the pill, coil and implant (I’ve had the implant 5 times now). She gave me the pill to take to “hopefully make my periods regular and it might help with pain”
Feel pretty fobbed off to be honest x
