Zopiclone success

I’ve had a terrible week of insomnia, not getting any shut eye until 4am/5am. Then my day starts at 7am with a full on toddler or stressful job. I went to the doctors this morning on the brink of insanity… desperate for some help. Have tried Nytol & magnesium with no success. No history of poor sleep/insomnia and no factors present to suggest I’m more stressed/anxious than usual. Life is normal. GP was very understanding and prescribed acute prescription of zopiclone. She said this would ultimately knock me out and restart my sleep cycle. Sounds great…

I am naturally conscious if this will solve the problem long term? I’m terrified of insomnia now being a part of me, the impact on my day to day life has been horrendous. Any positive experiences?

Sleep is a habit. Taking the zopiclone may help you re establish the habit. I doubt your GP has prescribed very much so I'd take the course and see if it helps.

Zopliclone is a very effective drug. I'm a long term hard core insomniac. I've taken it twice for short periods it was truly wonderful.
But it is highly addictive. I spoke at length to the pharmacist at my GP about it. And I believed her when she said it has a 100% addiction response. You take it you want more of it. It isn't a long term answer. The body builds a resistance to it.
But do take it for a few nights and then keep a few in case the insomnia returns.
I did a course online to help me recognise my sleep issues and to do sleep restriction which is brutal but effective.
I found out that I have the ability to stay up all night if needed. I watched the general election results roll in without even a can of coke!
Be super cautious with the Zopliclone.

I have it prescribed on a long term basis due to shoulder pain that stops me easily sleeping. I can have two/three a week and I take them on a Sunday and a Wednesday night, sometimes not taking the third. Maybe one day the GP will pull it but it's been three years so far.

Be very cautious, I had a short course and I've been taking it daily now for almost a year 😔 the thought of not having one has me riddled with anxiety.

I have been taking half a tablet when desperate for over ten years. My doctor only prescribes 7 a year, 14 doses.Obviously I’m not addicted but I am very disciplined about only taking it occasionally.

I take phenergan when I’m having a period or insomnia. I find it really helpful to get me back on track.

I have zopiclone on repeat, but dont take it every night because it stops working.

I would take one tonight so youve had a decent sleep, but i think tomorrow, try and work on whatever is stopping you relaxing

I’ve been on Zopiclone for 4 years. I take it every night. It works like a charm - wouldn’t be without it. I was on 7mg but now take 3.5mg.

I take Zopiclone periodically and have been for years. I certainly haven’t had problems with addiction. One box 7.5 mgs = 28 tablets. I take half tablet when necessary.GP quite comfortable with this .
1 box lasts at least 6 months ,absolute godsend !

One of the problems with on-going insomnia is that your body gets into the habit of not sleeping. A night or two knocked out on zopiclone can help reset to a new pattern of sleep. Plus we need sleep. Life without it becomes intolerable. Something that helps you get back to normal sleep patterns is okay.

I was prescribed it after my mother died. It meant I could still function until things were back on a more even keel.

My dh got addicted after 2 weeks use, hideous withdrawal.
