Anal skin tags - help!

I have been suffering with these for about a year and I cannot put it off any longer - I have got to get them removed privately. Can anyone recommend a surgeon please or any advice at all - I would so appreciate it. They don't cause any pain but I am completely paranoid about being clean down there. Is it best to have laser treatment, cryotherapy or something else? I haven't ever had children - these were caused when I had haemorrhoids from being severely constipated on a couple of occasions groan. TYIA x

Following... I have the exact same problem you are not alone. Only made me paranoid since I have recently started dating again

Tea tree oil works directly applied. Dries them out and they fall off. Peri memo has a lot to answer for in terms of skin tags. This has worked in many parts of my body - including my neck but not sure if you can reach to the area?

Tea Tree can have a skin reaction so best to test first. Good luck.

Are you by any chance in Dorset or somewhere near that? My friend goes to Andrew Clarke and he's amazing, knows what he's doing.

I had one after giving birth. My GP tried to freeze it off which was very painful for about two weeks and didn’t work.

No, put I am willing to travel. Thanks for this - I am going to try the tea tree approach to see if that helps first then we will go from there. But thanks for this info, I really appreciate it x

How are things now op did the tea tree work? I too have the same problem due to severe constipation caused by diuretic medication i was on years ago. mine are not painful in anyway but I always feel very unclean and feel and that I leak mucus slightly. I can often smell myself when I go to the toilet (a dirty bottom smell) even though Ive not long showered or bathed. i am extremely paranoid and self conscious about the smell and it seems to be getting worse with age. ive never saw my gp about this as because its not causing me any pain i dont think theyd be interested plus im just too embarrassed to show the gp and have read surgery can be extremely painful.
ive tried anusol creams etc but nothing works.
this seems quite a taboo issue that is never spoken about but seems quite common by the posts ive saw on MN.

Sounds like you deserve to see the GP don't worry about wasting their time.

Hi, yes I have been using the tea tree oil - it has definitely helped although not a complete cure. I am using the moist toilet wipes and they help and don't make me feel so bloody paranoid about it all. I spoke to a friend about this and she has this issue it too. I think it's definitely a taboo subject and all too common, hence why they won't do the surgery on NHS - they'd be inundated! I'd go down the surgery route and not scared about the pain side, I am more bothered about the risk of infection - it sounds like a nightmare.. you have a wound but how do you keep it clean?! The tea tree oil has quite a strong smell but it's by no means unpleasant. All the best x

@BB32NG thanks for your reply, glad things have slightly improved for you. how do you administer the tea tree, a little spray bottle or dab with a cotton pad? and do you use it neat or diluted?

I just put a couple of drops on my fingers and rubbed it in. I applied it neat. I know people say dilute it - I never did. I don't really remember how long I used it for - maybe I should try again, it might improve even more. I think I just got into the habit of not doing it so often, then once a week.. then never! 😀

@BB32NG How are you now? Did you ever get them surgically removed? The NHS do offer it as I’m on the waiting list for it.
