Life without caffeine

I was having insomnia so cut out the caffeine. Then, I discovered magnesium and am sleeping again but have kept on the decaf drinks because it seems like a healthy thing to do. The trouble is, I'm still experiencing fatigue and I pretty much have to nap every afternoon. I'm lucky that I'm not working at the minute so I can but I fully expect that will change at some point so need to get some energy back!

I'm in perimenopause but the GP says my hormones are at the optimum levels. I've had my iron and B12 checked and now take an iron supplement because that was low. I have a berocca energy boost every day.

I'm trying to make sure my diet is healthy and varied. What else can I do?

The obvious things you haven't mentioned are,
Stress/worries/mental health stopping you sleeping?
How much exercise you get, and when in the day you do it?
Assume you are not drinking alcohol if you've ditched caffeine?

Yes, I've been alcohol free for over 3 years. I am sleeping again now thanks to magnesium supplements but still need a sleep in the day. I'm unemployed at the minute and not that stressed. Perimenopausal but I think I've said that.

I don't get loads of exercise. I do walk the dog regularly and take DS to school by bike.

Caffeine doesn’t stop me sleeping. Only stress stops me sleeping.

Everyone is different OP. Caffeine has no effect on my sleep, but exercise is fundamental for me. A short walk doesn't cut it. If i want to feel my best (thoroughly invigorated through the day and sleeping through the night) I need a brisk 3 mile walk, or a decent bike ride, or 40 minutes doing lengths in the pool.
Is it worth trying a week of a proper walk every day, to see if this helps? Experiment with what time of day you do it. Often just before you get your slump is good.
