Has anyone had a biopsy and marker placed during breast appointment?

I am 42 and have had a fibrodenoma, which was biopsed in 2018 all was fine.

Since then I have gone to the breast clinic in 2021 (all fine) 2023 (was diagnosed with fibrocystic changes. I have been today as I felt my fibrocystic changes had changed but couldn't be sure.

Mammogram was fine and nothing has changed. The lady doing the Ultrasound said she wanted to do a biopsy as she can't be sure the tissue hasn't changed since my last ultrasound. She did a biopsy and a placed a marker (which I've never heard of before). The specialist wants me to go in next Wednesday, but has said 'we don't think it's anything serious' he just wants to check why the tissue is more lumpy/dense in this area. He said worst case scenario if it is something we will have caught it early! He was very pragmatic and reassured me having a face to face appointment does not mean bad news!

Has anyone had a biopsy and marker before?

@HawkersNorth glad yours was benign and glad you're having it removed if it is fast moving. If you need

I would be reassured by this. I was told I had breast cancer and it turned out not to be. It looked like it on the mammogram but it was something else that was benign. They were not at all reassuring, it was written all over their faces before they said anything. I would be reassured by your consultant.

I've read some doctor reports online that also state that fibrocystic breasts should not be referred to as 'changes' as that implies something is changing for the worst when it's common in pre menopausal women to have dense / fibrocystic breasts. And this age group is less likely to get breast cancer than menopausal and post menopausal.

It's good you are on the case x

I’m OK thank you . They think it’s non-invasive so I’ve just had lumpectomy, three weeks ago, so still a bit sore. Get my check up next week. I may need radiotherapy but I’ll find out more next week.
