PCOS Diagnosis

DLM2023 · 18/01/2025 10:08

After TTC for over a year and a half and going through some testing I finally received a PCOS diagnosis last week. I have some medications suggested to me including metformin and Inofolic alpha plus (brand named myo-inositol) to help manage the condition. Could anyone with PCOS that has tried these give me any pointers to what they got on better with etc please? Trying to figure out my best option but I really don’t know. Thank you so much

Exercise and diet.

I had a scan to confirm my PCOS, she told me what she could see on the screen and waved me out the door saying my doctor would be in touch. 11 years later I’m still waiting for that letter 😂
Diet and exercise have been key for me but it depends on what symptoms you want to try and target. I do have periods when I weigh less although they’re still not regular.

So annoying isn’t it! I have symptoms since 14 but obviously didn’t get anywhere until trying to conceive. My diet isn’t that bad and I’ll hold my hands up and say I could do more exercise but need some form of mediation to tackle the lack of ovulation according to the consultant I saw. Just trying to navigate the overload of information on the two types x

Low carb is definitely best for PCOS. I also found intermittent fasting helpful. If you are TTC, are they also referring you to the fertility clinic? Or is that why you have the metformin? If the metformin doesn't work (it brought back my periods but not a reliable ovulation), then you can be prescribed either clomid or letrozole, which induces ovulation. I conceived DD1 on my third cycle of letrozole after using metformin for a year without success. DD2 was a natural conception after I lost 12kg. Good luck!

the fertility clinic gave me the diagnosis after being referred by a gp. Gp said all my tests were normal- fertility clinic said it was obvious they weren’t! They’ve suggested metformin mostly just to help regulate my cycles but I’m also going to have to do OI anyway and will be going on letrozole for that. Gives me a bit of hope to hear that it worked well for you!
