I am on the darned things because of a heart rhythm fault. Unfortunately they sap everything from my life: energy, intellect, joy. I am like a miserable zombie.

Has anyone found a beat blocker that allows them to continue to live?

What dosage?

shivbo2014 · 06/01/2025 18:12

I take propanolol for anxiety, quite a low dose, and have never had any side effects, perhaps a bit of light-headedness, but that's it.

susiedaisy1912 · 06/01/2025 18:14

I was on propranolol for migraines and they made me tired and fat but chilled out. They also worked for the migraines for several years until they didn't.

You really need to see a cardiologist for a reset of the heart. Unless you have other heart issues.

CaptainBeanThief · 06/01/2025 20:42

@justasking111
I'm actually seeing my cardiologist on Thursday.
I also have vasospastic angina.

NothingTraLaLa · 06/01/2025 20:44

I’m on Nebivolol, but a really low dose (half a tablet) and I haven’t had any issues with them. I’m on them for tachycardia associated with Long Covid though, so I’m generally fatigued anyway.

OH poor you. Well have a fruitful discussion. At 31 you are so young.

I know :-( I've had the angina for a long time but necrotising fascitis, sepsis x2, blood stream infection, ventilator pneumonia and kidney failure has so badly damaged my heart :-(.
Onwards and upwards ehh!
Thank you for your concern x

Crikeyalmighty · 06/01/2025 21:03

I was on them for a while -bisoprolol 2.5 when I had a lot of anxiety with really bad neuro issues after covid - I weaned off them after5 months as they gave me very weird light headedness and weak leg muscles- it was like walking through treacle- they did stop my really bad headaches though

BobaTea · 05/06/2025 08:50

@Crikeyalmighty hi, I'm about to start tapering off bisoprolol 1.25mg after being on them for 1.5 years. How did you taper off and any withdrawal side effects?

Crikeyalmighty · 05/06/2025 10:21

@BobaTea basically chopped tablet in half for a week ( not easy as they are small) then literally just a tiny corner for a week - then that was it. No side effects at all apart from the fact I suddenly felt very ‘alert’ beta blockers helped with my headaches ( due to blood pressure) which was why I was on them but did kind of make me sluggish
