Can I get HRT with these results? I have awful PMDD symptoms both before my period and during ovulation. It's ruining my life honestly. Has gotten so much worse these last 18 months. I have tried all lifestyle changes I can. I lead a healthy, active lifestyle. I am about to turn 40. I've been fobbed off once by my GP, so wondering if someone can decipher these results? Mainly because they're 'red' indicating out of normal ranges, but the medics comment was basically 'looks fine, retest in 6 months if you like'. These were taken on day 3 of my period as advised by Medichecks (I know they can fluctuate throughout the month). Thanks all - help desperately appreciated.

FSH is high for the time you had it taken. Should roughly be between 1.4-9.9 in follicular phase. It peaks about day 6 before ovulation, so it's likely it would be even higher then. However, it's considered 'normal' at anytime in the month if it's lower than 21. So that's probably what your GP is referring to. Did she know where you were in your cycle? I would explain that although it's in the 'normal range' generally, it is high for where you were in your cycle. Maybe ask her to repeat next month on day 6?

FSH raises as other hormones decline - your brain makes more FSH to try and make you ovulate. Mine was 5 at this time in my cycle so they said no further action. Although I'm not a doctor, it could be indicative of perimenopause, especially if a second test comes back raised. Doctors don't have to give HRT to under 45's, so if it's HRT that you want, these tests could convince your doctor that your symptoms are related to peri and would benefit from HRT. Not familiar with the other hormones tested but I do know that estrogen rises and falls during peri, then declines significantly post menopause, so it's only really useful in confirming menopause.

@Louise121806 thanks for replying. Yes the medic knew where i was in my cycle as this was a private test and the instruction was to take on day 3 of cycle. My mum was completely done with menopause by 47, so young.

Ah, that's good. I'd probably be more inclined to go with their suggestion then, unless you're really struggling with symptoms. It does show a slightly raised FSH but not major. Maybe that's why they suggested waiting 6 months.
