Lower right pelvic abdominal pain

I've had this on and off for a while, just wondering what can cause this and if anyone else has this? Like a dull pain, I was told I have a pelvic prolapse after giving birth and not sure if this is a symptom? Any advice would be appreciated, and I'm going to call the doctors next week

I have pain there and mine is an endometrioma on my ovary

Eileenb13 · 29/12/2024 16:44

I had mine for a few years on right side but would come and go . It then got worse one period to the point I thought I had appendicitis and went walk in centre( in hindsight my periods were getting more painful each time for a while to). Found out I had a chocolate cyst on both ovaries and endometriosis stage 4 with womb stuck to bowel, left ovary stuck to womb after an mri.

I would get an appointment with one of your gps that specialise in women's health to talk about it and see what they say next. They may do ultrasound etc and have a look. If they see nothing and it persists you go back about it please.

Mine wasn't picked up on NHS scan, i paid for private MRI as knew something wasn't "right" anymore.

Hi

I didn't want to read and run.

I had this pain, especially around period was quite bad. I initially ignored it as there's history of cancer so was just very avoidant of that.

Then I did go to the gp, and turns out I had benign dermoid cysts which were causing pain. They don't go away on their own and can cause a lot of pain.

So I definitely suggest going to the doctors and getting seen. I did have to have day surgery to get it removed and I'm happy to say there's no pain anymore!
Don't ignore your body, it's what keeps us living x

Hope you find this helpful.

@Eileenb13 how easy was it to find somewhere that offered private MRI? I've found lots of places offering ultrasounds but not MRIs. thanks

I forgot to mention my gp gave me an internal exam first and when she pressed on my right sight it was tender/ sore. I was referred for urgent ultrasound with nhs but that was a wait of 3 weeks. I got the private ultrasound first through local spire, gp had to also send referral to them before they would book it for me which was a pain.

I went to private one and he mentioned a thicker lining of womb and would be recommending gp refer me for gynae appointment.

When I saw gp again with results of private one she then mentioned he'd seen endometriosis and Adenomyosis and womb was bulky.

I'd also googled wait times for gynae and was like 22 weeks in my area.So I checked with local private hospital and made an appointment to see one, she did internal too , felt it was bulky and nodularity and tender.Rather than go straight to laparoscopy she refereed me for mri at private hospital and I paid for it first.

The private gynaes can I believe put you back in the nhs wait list for treatment / scans too as most of them work in the nhs in local hospitals. So it's worth just paying to see private one for initial appointment if you can to speed things up .

I have health anxiety after losing my husband and being sole parent, I worry a lot hence the impatience. But to be honest glad I did as I would still be waiting to see gynaecologist on the nhs sadly.

I did go for the ultrasound on the nhs to see what they would have done.... they would have re-done it in 6-8 weeks and there was no mention of endometriosis/ Adenomyosis on the initial report back to gp unlike the private one that cost me £329.

Wishing you all the best and no doubt it's nothing to worry about but defo start with the gp for internal exam and they should refer you for pelvic ultrasound too just to check on things.

My case is no doubt the rarer of ones so please don't worry.

Just always advocate for yourself especially with the gps and if they don't request ultrasound apply some pressure and request one anyway from them.
