Third degree tears and incontinence

Hi everyone. I had my baby a year ago and unfortunately suffered a 3b tear. I did have some issues after the birth with incontinence but thankfully things have improved.

I try not to worry about things but it does play on my mind every so often about getting older and because of the tear will I end up incontinent.

Positive stories are most appreciated 🩷

24 yrs later and all good. Skin stronger where there was a tear.

That’s so good to hear. Can I ask how old you are?

Do you ever worry about old age x

Well I didn't 😂
Seriously though no I don't. I was told at check ups that I'd healed well so don't see why I should have any problems apart from the usual woman issues!

Honestly it’s nice to hear a positive story. I’ve read so many awful things on google about repairs not holding and a few years later ladies are having issues or things get bad in menopause it’s scared me.

It was absolutely awful at the time and took a good few months to recover fully but it's not something I really think about anymore. I wouldn't read the stories on the internet, you're likely to come across more bad than success stories and I'm sure you're going to be just fine.

I think it took me nearly a year to feel properly better in general after my 3b tear. (Just the general trauma of it really, and feeling scared of PIV sex!)
And speaking now a decade and a half later I can say all went on to be fine after that first year - no continence issues.

Thank you I’m really pleased your okay 🩷 I agree there’s more horror stories than positive ones.

Same here it’s taken about a year to recover and feel semi normal again. I just feel traumatised by the situation.

so pleased for you that you recovered well 🩷

if’s honestly so nice to hear positive outcomes after a tear.

I had a 3b tear & my son is very nearly 8, then had a 2nd degree tear with my next child 2 years later - all good here, can even jump up & down on the trampoline with no problems 😂.
