Cyst on ovary getting conerned now

Hi guys just looking to get some advice as I’m quite worried at the moment. I have had a cyst on my ovary for a very long time now being back in fourth with scans it’s grown a lot since having my baby 3 months ago. However I have had another scan to check it out and my gp wants to know the origin of the cyst and has ordered the CA125 scan for cancer I’m so scared now. It’s a multiloculated cyst I’ve had it for 4 years now. Anybody else have the same cyst? Jacks

How come you’ve been back and forth to the doctor, is it causing you problems? Cysts are usually fine but if you’re continually back and forth it’s not surprising the Dr. has ordered more tests, if anything to put your mind at rest. Do you have any other symptoms?

@Anotherworrier hi, thanks for the reply. I have been back and fourth with them because I always see different doctors each time so I don’t think they communicate between each other. I saw a gynaecologist last year and he reviewed it back then and he gave me the opinion to either leave it in or take it out. I then chose to leave it in. I then became pregnant and it grew very large and I saw another gynaecologist and he said I will have to be reviewed again after 3 months of having my baby so today I’ve had another new scan and seen a different doctor and he’s ordered a scan screen on it.. I’m now very scared until I get the results

I had one, no idea how long I'd had it, but it was made up of a fluid filled cyst and a solid tumour (benign). CA125 was normal but I opted for removal as I just wanted to get rid. I also had a big fibroid causing problems so I had a hysterectomy.
It's important to remember that CA125 can be raised for several benign conditions.

@Wendolino thank you for reply! I do wish I had opted to have mine out at the time but the gynaecologist didn’t seem that worried. I’ve had mine for around 5 years. It’s only this doctor that had order the CA125. I have been getting pains in my pelvic area and down below but I my baby 3 months ago so I just put it down to postpartum pains but I’m frightened it’s something else now. Thank you for your advice! I really appreciate it ❤️

Doctors all seem to have their own ideas on which tests to order but CA125 seems quite a standard one for things like this. I remember the nurse saying that it's not for diagnosis, it just guides them.

Hope all goes OK and the pains go away.

I had a large one removed when I was pregnant with my first, I was given the option to watch and wait or remove, but torsion was a worry and I opted to remove. Both me and the baby were fine, despite it being a bigger op than expected. They can cause pelvic pain when they get larger and mine was quite painful.
CA125 is bog standard for symptoms like this, I've had a raised result for no reason, but when I had my cyst the level was normal 🤷‍♀️

@SanFranByAir Thank you for the reply, it’s comforting to know that. Did yours change size when you was pregnant? I have always been told my cyst is on the left ovary but last scan, they aren’t sure where the cyst is originating from because it’s sorted out spread near the right, I’ve got no idea 🤷‍♀️

I had a 6cm blood filled cyst on my ovary that they wanted to remove as they said it was unlikely to resolve itself at that size. I refused - and it disappeared! They ordered a ca125 test as standard although said it would likely be raised as cysts can raise the levels.

Kayleyanniex · 05/12/2024 21:50

@XmasElfOnTheShelff thank you for reply, how long did you have it for? I’ve had mine for around 5 years now. It’s good that your dr explained that. My dr explained nothing, he didn’t even tell him he was going to do that test until I looked at the blood request form xx

I don’t know, i was monitored for about a year and was told it needed to be monitored but never heard from them again! I went for a different ultrasound years later and asked them to check and they said it had gone. I’ve had numerous ultrasounds since and it’s still absent!
