Prolapse

Hi , does anyone have the same type of prolapse as myself. I'm in my late 60s and have front uterus prolapse. I had one child at age 23yrs so it's happened to me quite late in life. My question is I was referred to gynecologist who fitted ring pessary to hold prolapse up.It now is causing me to rush to the toilet sometimes too late. mostly if I have been sitting down. I'm lucky I'm retired as I can't see how I could have done a job like this, am scared to visit anyone or leave house for long although it only seems to happen if been sitting down. Hospital have not suggested an operation and I don't want one, too old I think. Am stage 3 slightly more. Will it stay like this? Any advice appreciated.

I’m so sorry you’re going through this, it’s awful. I’m 36 with a stage 2 prolapse, so can relate somewhat.

It sounds to me like the pessary isn’t the right one/isn’t inserted correctly, so I’d go back about that.

Have you been referred to a women’s health physio?

@magiciansgirlonce hope this may be useful?

Stress urinary incontinence

Sometimes the use a pessary will reveal unknown, pre-existing stress urinary incontinence (SUI). SUI is the leakage of urine with activity, for example with coughing, laughing, sneezing, jumping, or running. This unveiling can happen because when your bladder hangs lower than it is supposed to, it can kink the urethra (the tube that drains the bladder of urine). This kink helps to prevent unwanted urinary leakage.

However, when the pessary holds the bladder in its proper position, it unkinks the urethra, thereby allowing urine to leak more easily. If this is your experience, ask to trial pessaries made specifically for SUI as well as POP. Your pessary fitting professional may also suggest pelvic floor muscle training to reduce/eliminate your stress urinary incontinence.

Thank you so much replying. They told me physio would not help as muscle not working. I'd like to say before I go if you are stage 2 prolapse you have a really good chance of stopping it in its tracks with physio exercises done at home. Well worth trying. Good luck .
