Endometriosis - Bowel Resection? Your experiences

Currently waiting for a date for my Endo surgery. Found out i have extensive endometriosis across my bowels and rectum and the surgery will now be completed with a second surgery team, the colorectal team.

The consultant mentioned this will be a longer recovery and 'harder' on my body but we have to remove at least a portion of the bowel as currently it's extremely damaged and only getting worse.
They've mentioned a lot of information about stoma bags and so on but wanted to hear people's own experiences if they have any?

Sorry to hear this. I had severe stage 4 Endo (and adenomyosis but opted not to have a hysterectomy) and needed bowels to be shaved of it but not a resection, I was also warned of a small possibility of temporary stoma (even if they had to do a disc resection) but avoided it. my Endo was more extensive than they thought and it was a long operation removing it from everywhere (diaphragm too!) My surgery gave me an improved quality of life as I had ceased functioning for most of the month. But my pain continues but not as bad as before.

Hopefully someone can help on the bowel resection. Good luck xx

Sorry to hear you're going through this. I have it on my bowel and it's infiltrated it but gynae says a bowel shave will be enough. Consulting the bowel surgeon for his opinion too. I'm
Having hysterectomy at same time also have Adenomyosis. The joys.

Have you guys changed your diet to help with the endometriosis to try slow it down specially with it in bowel.

I didn't even know I had this until last month after MRI for right sided pain. Gp thought I had uti for a month.
