Hi all,

This might be the silliest post ever and I don't blame you all when you roll your eyes but how does everyone get through their period every month? I literally dread it every month. My mood drops so low and I feel so emotional, the breakouts are painful and make me so self conscious, and don't get me started on the pain...the cramp, the back pain, the leg pain...I've seen 5 gynos since I was 16 as I used to pass out and the period lasts just under 2 weeks with the most excruciating pain. One of them told me that it's "probably endometriosis" but it's too invasive to find out and another told me "it's just the way you are". I've tried painkillers, heat pads, all forms of contraception(but had massive side effects).

Any advice would be so grateful.

Female hormones are produced in the body from the dietary fat that we consume in our food. If you are eating typically for a western woman, your diet is probably too low in the necessary fats. Which means hormone imbalances and that great stuff.

If you want more info take a look at Elizabeth Bright's book, Good Fat is Good for Women, or watch one of her talks on youtube.

You need to go back to gp and don’t stop until you get taken seriously. There are medicines that can reduce the flow and cramps. You can take a low dose anti depressant to help manage your mood. There is lots of help out there. Don’t be fobbed off.

You defo need to go back to gp lovely. Endometriosis is no joke! Please push for scans to see what's going on inside too. Can't believe they haven't done any.

I had one scan but they said they couldn't see anything. Although, a BUPA doctor on a conference call at work said that scans don't always show endometriosis. The last gyno said that there was no point officially diagnosing it because there was nothing that could be done for it anyway.
