Posterior Prolapse repair help

Sorry if TMI. I’ve had this issue for over two years. Was offered physio therapy first which didn’t make any difference, and sachets to help loosen stools.

I then asked to be refered to see a specialist who said it wasn’t that bad but they would discuss surgery. I was called by someone who asked me loads of questions before the panel met to decide whether I can get it surgically repaired on the NHS..

The lady I spoke to went on about how it’s a massively painful recovery and how the pain is really significant compared to what they actually do. I am now on the waiting list, which I’ve been on at least 4 months so far, maybe longer.

Has anyone had this operation done? I’m having to use suppositories regularly and I’m really uncomfortable if stools are ‘stuck’ or backed up.

Yes I had it done in 2014 and it made a big difference.
It does take a while to recover. First week on the sofa doing nothing. You can't lift anything or push or pull anything (no hoovering) for 6 weeks. You can't bend down that easy for a few weeks. So you have to find workarounds that don't put pressure on your pelvic floor. But the pain is not bad.
You can't drive for 6 weeks.

It's worth doing. The recovery is slow but it's an investment in the rest of your life.
So make sure they know how badly your quality of life is affected.

If you are still of child bearing age they might try to scare you off because if you got pregnant they'd have to do the surgery again.
