Hi Everyone 👋

I do plan to go to the GP next week, but I'm hoping to get some advice beforehand. My periods were always a bit irregular but never really caused me any issues before kids. After I had DD2 I BF for 20months, after which time the only way to stop was to go cold turkey. Unfortunately this caused my system to go haywire - I spoke to a lactation consultant after who said this can happen.
I had dizziness, headaches, palpitations, passing out, twitching, crazy anxiety. This somewhat settled over time, but even 1 year on I'm finding I still have flares.
After reading up on PMDD online I believe this is what I have. For example this month has been hell. I always have an uncomfortable ovulation - pains, bloating. But after ovulation this month I also got very bad aches and pains. So bad I thought I had done some serious damage in the gym. My sciatica was so painful all along my lower back into my hip and sore to touch. On top of this my left shoulder was agony and spreading through my armpit across my chest. Ribs sore to touch and boob tender. I've been using heat patches the last two weeks. My anxiety has been awful, I think I've convinced myself I'm dying 10 most days it's terrible. The minute my period started it all started to ease. Day two today and while I'm tired and crampy my shoulder feels so much better as does my back.
My weight is also another factor. I'm heavier than ever despite being more active and eating better than I ever did. Nothing I do works.
Given its been a year and my hormones don't look to be settling at all I'm considering trying a hormonal contraceptive. I'm hoping it might balance me a bit and make my periods more predictable and easier (currently anywhere between 27 and 37 days). Does anyone have any success stories with this? Thank you 😁

Sertraline 25mg 2 weeks on 2 weeks off. Life changing!

Then having another baby sorted me longer term, although I do get incredibly irritated for about 3 days before my period. But that’s nothing compared to the thick of it!

I did actually suggest baby 3 to DH during the week - he almost passed out at the thought 😅

I also briefly tried sertraline for PPA but didn't suit me so had to give it up - that's what I'm thinking could something hormonal help.
