Since having kids I've always had a problem with thrush. I get it very randomly and when I do get it it's almost every month. Now I'm currently pregnant this is my second time in 4 weeks now. I'm sick and tired of using this pessary. Is there any thing I can do to stop the reoccurrence???

Following as I have the same. I rang the GP today and she’s doing a blood test but just prescribes the same tablet and cream as normal/

its horrible isn’t it! I eat a good diet , good weight and everything. I think it’s hormonal as it’s before my period each week.

You may need the oral medication on a regular basis for a while - Fluconazole 150mg taken once a week. Your doctor can advise you on this.

edit - just realise you said you’re pregnant, don’t take this without consulting a doctor first.

Did you have gestational diabetes in any of your pregnancies? Do you have any other symptoms or risk factors now?

  • overweight/high waist ratio
  • thirst
  • frequent urination/urgency
  • tiredness

Same!! Before pregnancy I used to get to before my period and then as soon as I'd finish my period the thrush would go.

I don't have any other symptoms. I'm a good weight and don't have diabetes etc.

Many years ago I had such a problem with recurring thrush that I saw a consultant about it. He asked to see my feet and said that although it wasn't obvious, he thought I might also have athletes foot. He said it could be more difficult to clear a fungal infection in one area if you had another fungal infection somewhere else and he recommended athletes foot treatment at the same time as the thrush treatment. It sounded very dubious to me but at that point I would have tried anything. It worked. So unless you're on oral 'kill anything fungal anywhere ' treatment it could be worth a try.
