Mirena and PMS?

I went to the dr today to talk about some issues I'm having with my period.

The issues are that I now have very irregular and longer cycle lengths, combined with longer periods (7-10 days). This is annoying but not really the main issue. My main concern was my moods pre-period. It's really bad, unbelievably low mood to the point of being suicidal at times, and a really really short fuse when the rest of the month I'm generally fairly relaxed.

She seemed to focus a lot on the bleeding and suggested mirena, but she did say it might help with the mood as well. But when I got home and looked into it, it doesn't look like mirena is particularly used for helping with PMS?
I don't actually care about the longer bleeding really, I only brought it up just as part of the whole picture as to what has changed in my cycle.

I told her that I'd tried the mini pill in the past and that it really affected my mood the entire time. I'm worried about getting the mirena because I worry about not being able to have it removed if it affects my mood.

Has anyone had mirena for bad PMS/PMDD?

It definitely helped my mood, but because it should stop your periods, it should hopefully stop the rage too.
How old are you as starting HRT should help?

I'm only 32 so she didn't think it was a perimenopause issue.

I remember going to the GP about my rage, and I was offered an antidepressant to be taken on certain days of my cycle. I didn’t take it, but I do think it was part of the start of changes towards peri.

I've had a mirena for HRT for a year. Still have periods. Still have cramps. Still have swollen breasts and shocking moods.
But significantly less bleeding than before. And no rage anymore.

I have the Mirena for PMS and have done for years.
It helps massively.

Hmm it does sound like it might help then.

I guess my main worry isn't trying it, but that it's so hard to get a GP appointment that if it does send me into a suicidal wreck (like I was with PND, and on the mini pill), I won't be able to get someone to take it out easily. That scares me a bit.

Have a look at how much progesterone is in it, apparently it’s minimal compared to tablets.

No it changed my mind not helped it.

Day after insertion I woke feeling very distraught and for a large proportion of day was unable to stop crying, had a very vivid dream too.
When I had the darn thing removed on 16th July it was as if I’d won the pools and I felt relived (same as coming round from spinal surgery in Jan 23 when I’d got my hands sensation back) so I knew I’d never regret removal of the coil. I was sold it for a gynae issue which didn’t exist during a hysteroscopy but ended up with a coil for a no clear reason and then on a private ultrasound scan a month later the fibroid was back/still there as symptoms of that fibroid didn’t go away.

I was put on actual progesterone capsules and that changed my life like 3 hours later, in terms of pressure easing. (there different types the coil is progestin and the caps are body identical) I really wanted to die when so called experts say a ‘fibroid is nothing’.
