Are peri/meno supplements worth it

Has anyone used supplements ? Any recommendations?

Is it advisable to take without an official diagnosis?

I thought I'd give some supplements a try before going down the HRT route and before my symptoms got any worse. Glad I did! I started taking a Well Woman 50+ supplement and ashwagandha. Felt like a different person within 2 weeks. I suspect it was partly the iron in the Well Woman supplement- I have a tendency to anaemia. But I think it was the ashwagandha which sorted the anxiety and brain fog.

I didn't go for diagnosis first, but I'm 52, so I think it's pretty safe to say that my typical perimenopausal symptoms are being caused by perimenopause!

I looked into health and her, but something last year made me realise I couldn’t take natural supplements’ not with an under active thyroid/ex epileptic/diabetic. I’m sure I’m not making it up.

Evening primrose oil I remember a gp snigger that wouldn’t do a lot when it was the go to for period pain.

I did watch a davina documentary which said natural health food remedies sales up 50% so there are two audiences.

Evening Primrose Oil was the go-to for PMS, not period pain.

I think the problem with supplements is that we would need different things at different stages. I personally probably shouldn't take menopause supplements because at my stage of peri, I might have too much oestrogen whereas later on there is too little and any herb that stimulated oestrogen might be bad for me? I'm still trying to understand it all...
