Small but many fibroids

All the posts here and what I find online seem to be about large fibroids, so I'm curious if anyone has similar experience to mine?

I'm mid 40s and on hrt for the last year (mirena plus patches). I had a lot of bleeding when adjusting to the oestrogen which has been diagnosed by ultra sound and gynae as due to fibroids. They are individually small but I have 10+. They are mostly in the muscle of my uterus, with two (not even the biggest) protruding into my womb. Because I'm on hrt it's unlikely the bleeding will reduce substantially. I'm currently bleeding about 15 days out of 30, between period and spotting to greater or lesser degrees. Its erratic so i never know which will be a good or bleeding day.

My treatment options are to remove the two protruding and hope the rest play ball for the next 10 years. Or go for a hysterectomy now and be done with it. Hysterectomy seems very final (despite being absolutely done with having children) but if the resection doesn't work, I'll probably have to go that route anyway, so am I just delaying the inevitable? God its such a hard decision.

I have one medium sized fibroid growing into the wall of my uterus and it’s this and the way it’s positioned rather than the size that has caused me massive issues for years.
I’ve had two GA resections so far (hysterescopy with myosure) - after the first one the fibroid grew back and doubled in size within 7 months from surgery.
the second surgery was only half successful they didn’t manage to remove it all and I need to go back in a few months to try and remove the rest. It’s difficult to remove in one go due to how much it bleeds. After the next surgery there is no guarantee that it won’t just grow back. My surgeon and I agreed that this is the last try and if it doesn’t resolve the problem I’ll have a hysterectomy.
No advice as I can’t predict whether the removal will be successful for you, for me so far two operations made no difference.

That sounds rubbish for you. The gynae did tell me that it could take two goes to do the resection but she wouldn't know until she was doing it if she would be able to get them in full. And if that wasn't successful it would mean two GA hysteroscopies with an ultimate hysterectomy. How long have you had between procedures? I asked about an ablation with the resection but she was a bit reluctant, without giving me a real reason why it wasn't a good idea. I've another appointment with my gp in a few weeks so I need to get my head together a bit before I see her.

It was nearly 2 years wait between the first and second surgery due to the NHS waiting list and having to go through the whole process again (GP apt, referral, US scan, results, referral back to gynae, consultation, surgery cancelled multiple times ).

I now have private insurance but it won’t cover pre-existing conditions.

I do know someone who was in this situation (many small fibroids). They had a hysterectomy.

I was told there was nothing they (the medics) could do for fibroid logged in muscle except the miracle coil.

At first they tried to tell me the fibroid had disappeared it never made sense why the symptoms didn’t die down so a private scan a month later said they were talking turkey and my fibroid had grown and I was actually news flash in peri (both gynae’s seen wanted to stick the coil in and blow smoke up my backside I didn’t have to deal with meno until 50+)

In the end after after so many months and the cover up being they were treating a 42 year old mid to late peri as erratic periods, a colonoscopy later, I got relief when it finally got picked up I’d vaginal atrophy and was then put on prescription of hrt, my main symptom started to relive. It wasn’t thanks to any gynaecologist and I imagine I’ll be fighting any GP for prescription of hrt.

People say the fibroid gynae experts sit at Norfolk & Norwich but how the hell you get there as a Suffolk resident I’ve no idea.
