Ovarian cyst?? (Pic)

Has anyone had a swelling/lump like this that turned out to be an ovarian cyst? I have previously been to the GP several times but they can never feel it (it sinks and is pretty soft when you press it). It does occasional go away but I can feel swollen for months sometimes. I felt the doctors thought I was imagining it. I've had investigations for bowel issues due to constipation and normal colonoscopy. Today it was looking particularly swollen so I got a good pic (maybe ovulating). No point in going back to the docs because it will probably disappear on the day I go or they won't feel it.

For info I'm 37 and have had a previous normal pregnancy. Just wondering if anyone had anything similar! I'm not worried about cancer.

Does it end with pain before it goes down? Could it be a hernia?

I don't notice it going with any pain although today there's a bit more discomfort but I do wonder if that's ovulation pain. I don't think it's a hernia

Does your doctor have an e consult service? I would send them the picture and see what they say. Or book an appointment and take the photo in to show them. I’d definitely be getting that checked though.

Yes they do but I've had appointments for the same issue probably 5 times over the last 10 years. I also mentioned it when I went to the gynaecologist when I went for swabs for prolonged thrush but it wasn't obvious again and she "prodded" my ovaries vaginally and that didn't cause any pain so she had no answer. There's no change to the swelling, it's just sometimes more prominent so I don't see how a new GP appointment would give me any new answers if I've been 5 times.

Make another appointment and take the pic.

When I had an ovarian cyst that would pop it was incredibly painful, call an ambulance painful and when they actually did an US before it burst it was grapefruit sized but did not show on the outside at all.

It does look to be in the right area though.

Sorry I cannot be more helpful.

you need a referral to gynae and a scan in first instance.

lissie123 · 15/01/2025 21:03

Definitely get a referral for a consultant and have a ultrasound done

Crikey!

What happens when you lay down and stretch out? Does it go down then? Or does it stay all puffed out?

Send this pic in on an online consult. Bless your socks.

I had what looks like the same, I would lay down and it would be like this and then I went to the doctor, she said nothing there.

it kept growing and vaginal ultrasound showed a fibroid and loads of different types of ovarian cysts however the lump itself was the fibroid.

You have any heavier periods ?

Back or hip pain ?

one possibility is that the fibroid is degenerating which is why it gets smaller, that was the reason for mine.

Not an expert at all but just my experience.

Looks like a hernia.

Hi, just wondering did you get some answers? X
