Hi - I have had this for years, and have really learned to live with it - dread going to the hair dresses - they all say the same thing 'oh isn't your hair thin - are you on medication'
Have any m'netters had any success with remedies or hair products to help with the symptoms.

TIA

It's very strange but I'd never heard of Female pattern baldness. I had to Google it to see what it is.

I suffer from Male pattern baldness - frontal fibrosing alopecia to give it the official name. When I started the symptoms -receding hairline and small itchy spots on the scalp , I went to my doctor and was referred to a specialist hair clinic. They tried all sorts of remedies - all experimental because there was no known cure. Just various things to try and prevent further hair loss because once it was gone and the hair follicle was dead, the hair would never regrow. I'm virtually bald now and wear wigs - courtesy of NHS prescriptions.

I'm afraid I don't know how the NHS approaches female pattern baldness but if you haven't already spoken to your GP about it then it might be worth doing that.

Sorry I can't offer any help or advice but I do offer my sympathy because I know how hard it is when your hair is affected in this way.

I think the only proven treatment is minoxidil & then that only works in 30% of women. I also think you have to start it as soon as you notice.

Tried minoxodil - just left my hair looking greasy - and it was soo expensive.

There are 'topper' wigs out there - but can't find one which looks natural

There was a thread on here a while back & oral minoxidil was recommended. The poster followed Dr Donovan’s regime & bought the tablets online from Oxford pharmacy. She pretended to be a man as it isn’t licensed for women.

Mesh integration is also popular now if you can afford the outlay & upkeep. I follow iconicf**kin hair on instagram & marvel at what they can do, it’s so good. I think it’s something I’d consider if my hair gets any thinner.
