Vaginal and Rectal prolapse - surgeon recommendations please?

Hi, my poor sister has rectal and vaginal prolapse after forceps and ventouse deliveries. She has tried physio for a year with little improvement and now physio wants to refer her for surgical opinion. She has private health insurance through husband’s job. She lives in Banbury, happy to travel to London/ Warwick/ Oxford/ surrounding areas. Any recommendations for a good surgeon ? Must be kind as well as very competent please - she is really struggling with this. Thank you all ❤️

Ah that sounds awful. Your poor sister. Don't have any recommendations but bumping for you . Hope she is able to get it sorted.

I've just had a posterior vaginal repair for a deficient perineum and small rectocele at the Spire in Harpenden (Herts) with Nr Andrew Hextall. Lots of good reviews for him around here and several staff said they would go to him. I'm only 3 weeks post op so can't say if it's been a success or not yet as still healing. I'm sure there must be someone good in Oxford/Banbury though.

Thank you so much for your recommendation. Travel matters less to my sister than seeing someone reliable that she can trust and Harpenden is not too far. I really wish you a speedy and good recovery and hope it has been a complete success for you. Thank you for taking time to post, much appreciated.

Thanks for your support. My sis is very stoical but the symptoms are really getting her down. Appreciate your understanding and good wishes.

I had one of these years ago. I'm not in your area but I found it worked really well and all back to normal, if that helps. Try not to worry, it's worth it.

It does help because she is scared of surgery but more frightened of having to live like this long term. Glad you are better and thanks

I looked on Top Doctor for a different issue to find the best highly recommended surgeons. Lots are based in London, which is fairly easy to get to - however I wouldn’t recommend getting the tube / train home after surgery.

I can't remember the name of mine but just wanted to say I'm 10 years+ post op and all good. There is a UK based FB group called Rectocele Patients which might be of use, I haven't looked at it for a while though.

Who was your doctor please?

Dear Kriscross, thank you so much for your advice, it does really help to know how things are ‘the other side’. You were brave enough to go ahead and am glad things worked out well for you. It’s really good to know it’s worth it!
