Day 3 of period. This one has been much more crampy and clotty than normal. I just passed this clot which was like rolled up flesh 🤢

is this normal?

my periods have been getting more clots in every month for the past few cycles. I’m also ttc my second, three months in to that.

any help appreciated.

I used to get these when I was peri menopausal. Have you got any other symptoms x sending hugs x

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 04/07/2024 23:25

I sometimes get those but I have endo and the first couple of days are really heavy. There’s practically nothing after day 3

No other symptoms, I’m 33 and the women in my family didn’t have the menopause until 50 so I don’t think it’s peri. Periods have been like this for about 4/5 months now, no other symptoms. Cycle regular, ovulation every month. No idea!

I normally have a couple of heavy days and then it tapers off. But periods have been getting more clots in every month. May I ask your other symptoms which led to your diagnosis? I don’t really have any other symptoms that I’m aware of.

@MrsWeasely peri menopause can take up to 10 years 😲😲 in the worse case scenario x

MaybeItWasMe · 04/07/2024 23:37

Yes, I’ve had these. Am 45.

wejammin · 04/07/2024 23:37

I get these, tbh that would be a small one for me now. I had a transvaginal ultrasound that identified a bulky uterus, likely linked to adenomyosis, but nothing sinister.
Only happened since DC3 born when I was 34. Getting worse every year. GP not concerned though.

Dressinggowntime · 04/07/2024 23:38

Yep I’ve had bits and bobs like that

Oh wow. I had no idea, I’ll look into it.

I've had these randomly. Periods have always been fairly heavy.
It def wasn't peri menopause

My periods got much heavier since my DC was born three years ago but only recently got so clotty. Yeah GPs are great for fobbing off.

I had one similar a few months back. Wasn’t concerned then but now it’s happened again and I feel extra crampy this month plus ttc im a bit more anxious I suppose.

Yes they can happen! Look up 'decidual cast' - they can actually be much bigger than that

That was my first thought actually and I had a Google but I didn’t think the shape or size was right. Maybe it was a partial one? 🤔

I'd guess it probably is. They're completely harmless so I wouldn't worry about it 😊

Bobsanidiot · 04/07/2024 23:53

Yes that's normal. Slippery little buggers. Mine started to get larger and were put down to fibroids. I decided to leave the fibroid as I was peri menopausal (late 40s) because fibroids can shrink after the menopsuse.

lemonsaretheonlyfruit · 04/07/2024 23:57

Same here. I'm 51 and mine look like these. Really painful cramps and lots of flooding accompanying this sort of thing. It cans go from 3 days of like yours or 2 months ago I had 18 days of flooding. Iron tablets helped massively.

Dilysthemilk · 05/07/2024 00:00

I had this and was diagnosed with adenomyosis and polyps. I had a small op (hysteroscopy) and got the mirena coil and went on HRT (was in my late 40’s) and all has been fine since thank goodness. My periods just got heavier and heavier before this, to the point where it was so hard to even work as they came closer and closer together.

Hello op
Apols to slightly hijack your thread but I am 47 and had one very similar this evening.
So was v
interested in this thread and place marking to look properly tmw

Orders76 · 05/07/2024 00:23

Also never had these before what I Think is peri menopause, over 40

Ladymuck2022 · 07/07/2024 00:29

I got clots up until Covid hit, talked into the dreadful mirena installed earlier this year when I think my periods were disappearing. No one has never been able to explain fully what it does. I honestly wish on the 4th March I got up and said stick theatre up your bum I’m getting dressed and off this ward. They clearly like carrying out hysteroscopies for biopsies and not getting rid of the problem for ladies is the only impression I’m left with.

Spoke to another aunt last night who said they were done and in meno by 45.

Took a pals complaint to get another date mid July and at a time/day where sedation can be used to get of coil. I intend to be successful on third road trip and would like to hope the nhs accepts a woman’s decision. They decide to have the coil out they should not be faced with all the lowest tricks in the books.
