New contraceptive due to high bp & very heavy periods

I have had very heavy painful periods since I first started my periods as a teenager. I was on the implant which worked well then once it was changed at the 3 year mark I started to get 3 week long periods with little breaks in between. This was taken out a few years ago and I was given
Rigevidon by the family planning clinic however when I take my 'break' from the pill I still have very heavy and painful periods. Coupled with some high bp readings over the past few months my GP wants me to come off of the pill and go back to the family planning clinic. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions or experiences of other contraceptives? I am a bit scared of anything that needs to be inserted in (aside from the implant!)

Has anyone ever bothered to investigate why you’ve had and still are having such periods?. Do not keep putting up with this.

The cause needs to be determined as well as treating the symptoms. Given you’ve had such problems since teens it may well be you have endometriosis, this is a common cause of heavy painful periods.

Your GP should really refer you to a gynaecologist rather than just the FPC. If finances allow I would see a gynae for an initial consultation as a private patient given that wait times for appointments in gynaecology are very long.
