Hi all,

I had my 3rd and final baby last year and was sterilised start of April and had my implant removed the same time. I had what I think was my first period 9th May and then nothing again since? Is it normal for your periods to be irregular? I've only just turnt 30 so I don't think it's menopause. anybody ever been through this I just really thought periods would be normal because no hormones being pumped into my body.

I’m unsure my mum was forcibly sterilised in 1984 another preg would have killed her apparently wanted a family of four but not possible. Me and my bro early births. We were both born a pound a piece in the early 80’s. Mum did not make it to 9 months pregnancy with either of us.
Mum had full hysterectomy in her early 50’s and this was due to very heavy period bleeding so recalls having periods.

I was sterilised in 2022.

One ovary completely removed, my other tube was cut (not tied)
My periods came straight back to normal 28 days later (I was surprised)

I think for about 3 months it wasnt quite the 28 day clock work it always was (but not far off) but it was back to normal quickly.

Are you SURE you are not pg? It was made very clear to me that pregnancy was still possible, and more likley closer to being sterilised than later.

It IS still possible to get pg after sterilisation

(I had this explained to me, because a previous pregnancy had quite literally nearly killed me.... (I'd had to terminate to save myself)... it was decided that it would be very dangerous for me to ever be pg again..... so they wanted me to realise that even with only 1 ovary and my other tube cut, in 2 places with the middle removed (which is more reliable than the clip apparently, that they normally use), so they wanted me to realise that pregnancy was not impossible, even after this surgery)

Thanks, I have took a test it Neg! I was pregnant 3 times on contraception the last time was on the IUD and I produced a blood clot on my lung, my babies were all prem due to shortened cervix so that's why I was sterilised. I had the clips and they told me they done 2 on 1 side because it kept coming off and 1 on the other. I bled after the surgery but nothing since then!

Could it just be that your periods are taking a bit of time to regulate after having the implant removed? Every time I stopped progestogen only contraception this happened to me. I wasn't on the implant, but was on cerazette, depo and mirena and it happened with all three.
