Have I had a colposcopy?

Hello

I've been having bleeding after sex, pain during sex (i belive this is cervical pain as in worse in certain positions), lower abdomen pain and bloating and random vaginal bleeding which is gradually getting worse. I've had an ultrasound today which showed my ovaries and womb are normal but said they can't look at my cervix with ultrasound.

I had the below tests at the doctors recently. Can anyone tell me if this includes the swab they take to check for abnormal cells etc- I'm just wanting to know if there could be anything found wrong with my cervix, or if all possible tests have been done and I just need to tell my partner we won't be having sex again...

The writing isn't clear enough to read I'm afraid.

The swab you're talking about can be done by a nurse at your local GP. They can also perform a visual check. You would have been aware they were doing this at the time.

A colposcopy involves a referral from your GP practice, a hospital appt and a detailed examination by a specialist with a camera, and the area dyed.

Thank you for this- I have a follow up appointment on Thursday so I'll ask to be referred to the hospital - I've definitely not had a camera/dye applied. The doctor did say originally that if the ultrasound was OK she would refer me to gynaecology so hopefully that referral will result in the correct tests.

I cannot read the writing either unfortunately.

Your symptoms could be attributed also to endometriosis, particularly the pain during sex. Its not usually picked up on blood tests, internal ultrasound scans, swabs etc and is usually diagnosed via a keyhole surgery op called a laparoscopy.
