8 + day period?

Apologies if TMI... I normally have a very short 3/4 day period. This month I noticed I had PMS and cramping symptoms for 2 weeks before so that I was desperate for my period to get here. I then also got some really watery discharge for a week before my period started. I've not had this before. It then started and was very watery but the blood was red and after two days appeared to almost go, although I still had blood each day. Then I got some brown blood on about day 5 so assumed it was ending. Since then the blood has restarted as fresh red and is continuing although lightly and it’s day 8 now.

Should I be concerned? I don’t want to waste GPs time if this is normal peri-menopause perhaps. But I’ve never had this before. Although I am now 40.

Only other points to note is I have a cervical ectropion. Last smear 22 and was fine. I always have low back pain and constipation and painful bowel movements which I’ve assumed are piles although they are bad this week after not really having anything for a few months. I’m also incredibly anxious this month. It’s almost come from no where, so I’m struggling to look after my horses as I seem to have developed a weird anxiety around them, so again might be suggesting it’s hormonal and start of menopause?

I've been having the same bang on since I turned 40 in November
Some months are worse than others
However I know I have pre-cancerous cells so it's either that or hormonal I hope.

Mine have always been a bit like that, but with 2 or 3 days of very heavy as well. They are usually over in 10 days. Some medical person once told me I have a sluggish womb. If it's unusual for you though I'd ask the doctors

Thanks. I will speak to the GP just in case.

Hi OP, I know this is an old thread but wondering if you ever got to the bottom of this? Going through some gynae issues myself and curious what happened in your case. I truly hope all is well.

@Seekinginfoladyyes I went to see a gynaecologist just in case and they did bloods and scan. They couldn’t find anything. She thinks that it’s probably due to the fact I lost quite a bit of weight and maybe that has impacted my hormones. It resolved itself for the next month. She said to keep an eye on it and come back if it was happening after 6 months but everything went back to normal so was put down to just “one of those things”. Having the scan did give me peace of mind though so I would speak to the doctor. I hope it’s all ok and just hormones like it seems to have been for me!
