Obscured endometrium

I have just been for an ultrasound and the radiographer told me I will need to be referred to the gynaecologist as my endometrium was not visible. She mentioned adenomyosis, possible hysterescopy. I will of course be speaking to my GP once she gets my results (next week hopefully).

I am 48 and in the last 2 years my periods have been coming every few months. I had a period in July 2023 and then again between middle January and March this year I had 3 periods close together (2nd period came 20 days later and then I had another one 14 days later), which seemed unusual for me. I have had some slight pain around that time, but I associated this with my periods. I asked the GP to refer me for an ultrasound just to make sure that it is all normal and due to perimenopause.

I went today thinking that it will all be fine and now I am freaking out a bit. Has anyone had this during an ultrasound and it was all fine? I have had vaginal ultrasounds regularly in the past- last one was in February 2023. I have had a fibroid, but if I had adenomyosis, wouldn't it have been picked up?

Just looking for other similar experiences, Thank you!

Hi! I wondered how did you get on? I am going through something similar now - the views of my uterus have been bad - for a year - even all was normal before. I also have thickened lining. How are you doing?

Hi, I asked to be referred privately as I have insurance through work and I had another ultrasound at a London clinic specialising in gynaecological ultrasounds. On top of adenomyosis I found out that I have endometriosis. This is all news to me as I never had any big problems. Possibly some pain and heavy periods. And secondary infertility in my early 40s which now I can't help but think that it could have been related to the undiagnosed endometriosis...
I am in perimenopause and late 40's now so these conditions should not progress much and cause issues. How are you?

Oh that's good to head, i am glad nothing sinister was found. Endo does suck! Thank you so much for your reply. I have diagnosis of adenomyosis already and I suspect might have endo too. I had fertility issues and had my son via ivf. We were just sbout to start another ivf when yhis has been discovered , and the thick lining is worrying me. I am one of those annoying people who tend to catastrophise!!! And don't do well with waiting))) but I am trying to man up for this :)
