Constant tiredness

Hello,

Just wondering if anyone has experienced similar. I am in my mid 30s and for the past 2 years I have been constantly tired. No matter how much sleep I have it is not enough. It has now got to the point that I now have brain fog and it is disrupting my work and life due to forgetting things and/or my attention to detail is decreasing and the house chores are just piling up due to too tired and no motivation. I find myself nodding off at my desk. I have spoke to my doctor and I have done all tests you can think of, even had a sleep apnoea test which came back fine. It is not thyroids or iron. I have gone on antidepressant thinking it could be depression but no luck. I take regular morning and evening walks with the dog and eat healthy (due to wanting to lose weight) I am so sick of being tired!😫if anyone has any supplement advice or any tests I could talk to my doctor about that we haven't tried I would appreciate it.

Did they test your vitamin D levels?

MyBigFatGreekSalad · 29/05/2024 11:44

Are you feeling stressed? When I'm stressed it doesn't matter how much sleep I get I feel exhausted!

Also, did you have your b12 checked?

yes. I have had numerous blood tests for anything vitamin deficiency related. This is why I am so puzzled. Also done urine and poo samples. Everything coming back fine.

What are you eating? I know you say 'healthy' but as you also say you want to lose weight I wonder if you're eating enough/the right things?

Coeliac disease?

LRT88 · 29/05/2024 15:34

no we tested multiple poo samples and also bloods. I have had colonoscopy too which came back "all fine"

So ...

Your diet?

LRT88 · 29/05/2024 15:38

I am just increasing my veg/fruit and protein and drinking more water. It is very rare I have takeaways/chocolate/crisps etc. I don't drink alcohol. I have had weight gain similar time to when tiredness started even tho I haven't changed my diet. Doctor said I am too young for perimenopause because I asked if could it be that.

How active are you? Is tiredness making you less active?

Also make sure you get copies of all blood test results.

First to check you were actually tested for what you were supposed to be tested for, and secondly so that you can double check where you are in the ranges.

What does a typical day's food and drink look like?

caringcarer · 29/05/2024 15:51

Get your Thyroid checked.

What hormone levels were tested re your thyroid gland?.

There could well be a problem with your thyroid gland in that it is underactive. That can cause such symptoms to arise and some GPs simply do not recognise it.

Anti depressants are sometimes prescribed in such instances by GPs when the thyroid gland is to blame so am not altogether surprised to see those were ineffective.
