Sore left nipple TW

Hi all,

I’m after some advice as I am properly panicking and I can’t help but worry.

a few days ago (Wednesday Thursday) my left nipple started to hurt. I thought nothing of it (my son often digs into my boobs with his elbow and they are sore). My partner squoze it (like a spot) and clear/milky discharge came out of it. He said clear, maybe a little bit cloudy.
im not getting spontaneous discharge but my nipple just feels so sore, even if I brush it with my arm or some other object. He squoze it again this morning but nothing came out this time. Dr google keeps telling me pain in one nipple/breast and clear discharge is often a sign of cancer and now I’m panicking!! Bank holiday weekend means I can’t book an appointment with my GP so now I’m left worrying to death! I’m only 36 and now this coupled with other aches and pains and I’ve convinced myself I’ve got cancer!
im so worried. Can anyone help me? Please

Deep breath OP.
I don’t know what you’ve been googling exactly but here’s the sane list of possible causes of nipple discharge from the NHS. The fact that it’s one sided might mean it’s less likely to just be a normal hormone thing. But that doesn’t mean cancer is the only possibility or even the most likely possibility. It could well be an infection or a cyst. You need to get it checked.

Nipple discharge

Find out about nipple discharge, including what can cause it and when to see a GP. It's usually nothing serious, but it's important to get it checked.

Thankyou. I think the whole thing is made worse by the fact that one of my colleagues died after constantly being fobbed off with similar symptoms. I definitely plan to go to my GP on Tuesday morning, it’s hard to get cancer out of my head at the minute though 😭

I haven’t had my appointment yet. I’m having it today as I insisted on seeing a female GP.

I ended up having blood tests yesterday for an unrelated thing so I will let you know what is said. I have a family history of breast cancer on both sides of my family so I’m going to insist on a referral!

I have had similar the last few weeks and need to make an appointment too. Urgh.

@Ubijubi @TakeThePain
so my unrelated blood tests came back completely normal!! Everything, thyroid, liver function, everything! No concerns. They did a FULL blood count so checked for almost everything that they can check!
As for my appointment the GP took note of everything, my family history with BC and so on (my mum has had it twice and she was happy with my knowledge of the types my mum had!) then she was happy that I check myself regularly as she suggested that was part of my breast diet (as it were.) She then did a full examination and felt no anomalies (no lumps) although I do have a skin tag on my arm which she thought was a mole (🤔) . She then looked up some stuff on a website to see if I needed a referral which she suggested not but was going to speak to more senior GPs about. Said if I notice anymore changes or it doesn’t improve then to go back. She suggested it could be related to the fact I had my son four years ago (hormonal) and/or a side effect of my pill or the fact that I came on my period yesterday (sorry if tmi!) so not worried and no need for a referral!
I urge you both to get yourself checked and I will be keeping myself checked regularly too!

Got my urgent referral done this morning. I happened to be at gynae for a hysteroscopy yesterday and they suggested to ask to be referred to the breast clinic. All my bloods are normal too. I also had a son 4 and a half years ago and I did bf him for 2 years + but my milk had completely dried up a couple of years ago. I’m not taking any contraceptive meds and gp was a bit stumped. The fluid is only coming out of one milk duct on left breast which can be a red flag but I am trying not to let my anxiety get out of control. Best wishes to all xx

I actually think mine is somehow hormone related as it comes and goes with my cycle. Need to actually get round to going to see the GP though and find out.

Definitely try not to worry. Apparently even years later it can have an impact on your milk ducts if you breast fed. I only breast fed my son for two weeks.
keeping everything crossed for you, let us know how you get on?
@TakeThePain please try and make an appointment and let us know how you get on
