Hi , I would really appreciate some help with analysing some recent blood work my GP sent me for . GP is not much help and says everything is fine . I’m finding them really hard to interpret as I do have ADHD and find myself going round in circles when I go on google and try to figure it out .

My symptoms are : cysts on ovaries multiple cysts under 5mm all over both ovaries , really hairy ,hair all over my face growing a beard ! and chin hairs and hair along jaw line . I do have a regular cycle every month where It’s about 3 -4 days long .

These tests were done on day 5 . ( 4 days after the 1st day that I bleed )

Here are the results . Pathology Investigations:

Serum follicle stimulating hormone level - 5.3
U/L
Adult Female Ref Range:
Follicular FSH = 1.5-10
Mid Cycle FSH = 7-20
Luteal FSH = 1.5-8
Post Menopausal FSH >20.

Serum sex hormone binding globulin level - 73 nmol/L
Range - [30.0 - 100.0]

Serum testosterone level - 1.4 nmol/L
Range - ( 0.0- 2.0 )

Serum prolactin level - 875 mU/L
Range - [100.0 -550.0 ) Elevated serum prolactin, test added to exclude macroprolactinaemia; Above high reference limit

Serum LH level - 4.3 U/L
Adult Female ret range:
Follicular LH : (2-10)
Mid Cycle LH: (20-100)
Luteal LH : (4-14)
Post-Menopausal LH: (>20)

also how would I find out if I’m infertile or not is this pcos test enough ?

Any advice help and suggestion’s would be much appreciated :)

Your physical symptoms could well be indicative of PCOS. Some GPS are not up to speed at all with such issues. You are correct to think that something is wrong here re your fertility. You’re far more likely to be subfertile than infertile though.

The polycystic ovary can appear larger than normal (walnut) size and have a ring of pearls appearance to them. These cystic follicles can and do disappear but are replaced by more cystic follicles.

A day 2 blood test would be useful to check your LH level against that of FSH as would a further internal ultrasound scan. You need an accurate diagnosis first and foremost and for that you need to see a gynaecologist.

Have a look also at verity’s website which is all about PCOS.
