Holidays, periods & illness

Morning all.

I need some advice as this situation has started to make me not want to go on holiday anymore. In the past 2/3 years everytime I go on holiday, whether its for a weekend city break, longer holiday in the UK or abroad or back 'home', I get my period. Even if its not due. So I last had my period about 15 days ago and I have started it again. Along with my period I get awful stomach cramps, very heavy bleeding and clots. Every time I'm on holiday and I start my period the first two days are awful. I get the sweats and my whole body feels like it is super heavy and I jave to stay in bed. Then I start to get ill. Usually a very heavy cough resulting in a chest infection. In October 2023 we went to Mallorca and I didn't shift the cough till Feb this year and now I'm back to a hacking cough and chest infection again. It's doesn't matter what the weather is like. I'm 46 and probably peri menopausal if that makes any difference. Does anyone else experience this?

When you were diagnosed with chest infection, what type was it: pneumonia or bronchitis? Was it viral or bacterial, or bacterial following viral? Treatment for viral infections is antiviral (non existent in the UK https://www.telegraph.co.uk/global-health/science-and-disease/at-least-550-million-of-covid-drugs-wasted-in-the-uk/ A long cough becomes a chronic cough: did they test to find out the virus that caused it? A cough is normally a viral infection, so it's important to know what caused it. If they didn't test at the beginning, did they test for antibodies later on to find out the culprit? Knowing how covid can disrupt so many body functions, including (especially) immunity, can aggravate any pre existing conditions. Did they test your immunity to see if it's low? If they blame the pre-menopause, did they test your hormones to prove it?

Thanks. No. The GP wasn't in the slightest bit interested. She did some bloods and they came back fine. I'm 4 weeks back from holiday & were all still ill with hacking coughs and sore throats.
