Teenage daughter's period has stopped

Hi,
My 16 year old daughter has had very regular periods since she was 12, but for the last two months, even though she has had all of the usual symptoms, and been convinced it's about to arrive, nothing has actually happened.

She is definitely not pregnant, and even though she does exercise most days, it's not excessive and she is at a stable weight, so there's been no sudden changes in that regard.

She is a very conscientious girl and about to take her GCSEs and has recently had her mock exams, and she is a worrier (much like her Mum!) and I know that she is stressed about this, so I am thinking that maybe it is the stress that has knocked her cycles out a bit?

I am probably going to take her to the doctor, but I was just wondering if anyone else has experienced this at all with their daughter, and if it resolved itself and how long it took please?

Thank you in advance for any advice! 😊

She needs to do a pregnancy test. I know you said she isn't, but it can't be ruled out without a test. And definitely take her to the doctor. Stress can cause periods to go haywire.

Sounds like my DD1 who also did her GCSEs last year. She's always had a pretty regular 4 week cycle but over the exams themselves missed 2 periods and then followed that up with a very heavy period about a week after exams had finished. We put it down to stress in the end.

Yes, it is likely to be stress related IMO. This has happened to me in the past.

Thank you so much ladies, it makes me feel better to know that this kind of thing does happen. I will probably take her to get checked out, but our doctor's is not the best and to be honest, I feel that further tests/playing around with her hormones etc. may only add to the problem. I was tempted to give it another month or two, to see if it settles down.
