Folliculitis

Hi,

I’ve been waxing for many many years but decided to take the plunge and have laser. Was told by the therapist I would need to shave rather than wax as they need to zap the hair while it’s in the follicle rather than when you wax you remove the hair.

for the past few months I’ve been in real discomfort downstairs and I don’t know why. I book a doctors appointment and the dr asked straight away whether I wax or shave, I told her shave. She told me (without examining me) it’s folliculitis. Then when I got undressed and had that bright light on me all my shaving bumps were very obvious (the reason why I waxed for many years was because of the shaving bumps) then she went on about it being folliculitis. At this point she’s looking at a different part of my vagina which isn’t where I have the issue at all and diagnosing me. When I said oh no the issue is inside, in my labia she took a quick glance and said yep it’s folliculitis. She’s given me some steroid cream which I don’t really feel comfortable putting on in an intimate part of my body especially when she was looking at something else and not the issue.

has any one had this?
it’s sore, so sore. Like a paper cut & i feel so dry down there (I did think thrush but no smelly cottage cheese discharge or itchiness. The only similar thing is I feel like walking like a crab will help!)
it doesn’t matter if I wear thong, knickers or go commando. It’s on 1 side only, no lumps or bumps just a small red thin line like a paper cut.

I don’t think it’s a shaving rash or cut as it’s in the same place all the time (I did worry if it was my scar from childbirth and it was just going to be sensitive from now on but dr said no)

someone please help!

Yes l get prescribed hydrocortisone cream ( steroid cream) for dermatitis on my vagina/ labia etc.
I try not to use it much and a very thin layer.. because it makes your skin thiner.
