For about a year I've been having bleeding between periods.

Periods themselves are normal but with increased clots. Normal amount of pain.

Lots of pain at ovulation as in doubled over.

I've had a ultrasound scan which was normal (although ovaries couldn't be seen)
Hysteroscopy was also normal.

Hospital have discharged me as 'one of those things' don't worry about it.

Current cycle I've been bleeding for 10 days (normal period is 2/3) it's not heavy, very light.

Should I be concerned? I'm 39 and wondered if it might be perimenopause but drs say I'm too young.

When did you have the scans? If it’s not very recent then I’d suggest nagging them to repeat them to see if anything has changed or if they can see anything now.

It’s not normal to bleed between periods full stop. However I just ask whether the bleeding is random or if it’s usually on the same day(s) as your cycle?

Does anything make it better or worse? In terms of diet or exercise?

Do you have dcs? Has this always happened or just after your last pregnancy?

Did they do any blood tests?

Bleeding is often just before ovulation.
Diet and exercise don't seem to change it although it's possible stress does?

Gp did bloods everything was normal - slightly low ferritin and folate.

Ok, I was trying to think about whether it was hormone related or something else (infection etc) that would be independent of hormones.

Have you looked at details of endometriosis to see if that fits your symptoms? It’s notoriously difficult to diagnose and usually takes multiple investigations by doctors to do so but can cause bleeding and pain at ovulation as well as causing heavier periods and pain elsewhere during periods.

Although there isn’t a good treatment for it, at least if they have you that diagnosis you can stop worrying about others.

I appreciate this will sound a bit weak - but have you tried taking ibuprofen during the painful times (rather than paracetamol) to take down the inflammation.

Do you have plans for more children? Either now or in the future. There are treatments for endometriosis that risk your fertility, so if you talk your doctors about it make sure they know what your feelings are in that regard before they start mentioning treatment.

Obviously I’m not your doctor! I absolutely encourage you to hassle them to look again - but perhaps this gives you something to raise with them and discuss.

Thanks @ditzzy for taking the time to respond.

I've had two DC youngest is 8 and no plans for anymore.

Endometriosis is what I'd wondered about. Tbh pain and bleeding are not debilitating more annoying and I do feel I'm being fobbed off. Endometriosis diagnosis I think involves laparoscopy which I'm not sure is necessary.

If men had these problems I'm sure there would be more solutions!
