New kind of POP, different side effects?

I'm going to the doctor this lunchtime as I can't handle the side effects from my new POP any more.

I took Desorex for months. It was great, some small side effects, but no periods.

I got my repeat prescription in January. They gave me what looks like a generic desogestrel - no biggie, it's the same drug right?

I've been taking it 6 weeks and have just started my fourth period in that time. My mood is through the floor. I'm crying for no reason. I don't want to go anywhere. Even showering / brushing my teeth / eating is a chore. I have no enthusiasm for anything, all I want to do is stay in bed and watch TV. This morning I got ready for work and had a breakdown because I just didn't want to leave the house (now I'm on a sick day / WFH).

There is nothing else in my life that would explain these changes. Work is fine, my personal life is great, no money worries etc.

I'm really really hoping they can give me Desorex again. I don't understand why what is ostensibly the same damn thing can make me feel so awful. Will they give me a different brand do you think? I'm worried I'll be told that it just has to be whatever the pharmacy has in stock.

Edited to add that I can't have the combined pill due to migraines with aura.

I had a quick google then as I suffer with repeated bleeding on POP seems like Desorex has desogestrel in too and was hoping it had something else! I’m on Cerelle I can go a while with no bleeds but now on 2 in 2 weeks it drives me crazy. I can’t seem to find any POP where people don’t seem to suffer with break through bleeds I have googled so much to see what other options all I see is it should settle down but I’ve been on it since May and it was very settled until around October and since then I just can’t predict it

I was on Cerelle which was great and was changed to Desogestrel. I ended up using condoms for a period because it was like the devil to me even though it says it's the same drug. Definitely ask to move back.

Thanks both. It's the generic 'Desogestrel' from Morningside Healthcare that I have just now.

I haven't tried Cerelle before. I had Cerazette for a bit, and it wasn't awful but I didn't get on with it as well as I did Desorex. I think they all have the desogestrel drug in them, just obviously a slightly different mix...

Appointment is in a few mins so fingers crossed!

I have heard these side effects before even though they should have the exact same results as its the same hormone. I always just had cerazette.

The alternative would be a different mini pill with a 3 hour window that isn't desogestrel based; think there's 2 of them that you can get.

The Dr said I could have Desorex, and to take my tablets back to the pharmacy to change. She also issued a back up prescription for it in case.

Pharmacy refused to change the tablets and said there's no prescription for me. Back to square one.

Bought myself a packet of Oreos and going to eat the entire thing.

Don't think pharmacy can exchange as they can't dispense the tablets you take back. Was it an electronic prescription? I'd blame the gp for not sending it fast enough rather than the pharmacy being at fault.

If you have a paper prescription you can use any pharmacy

I did think that was odd, but not only did she say it in the appointment she also put it in the follow up text message which also confirmed the prescription was ready.

I'm going to check back with the pharmacy tomorrow but won't be able to pick anything up til Saturday.

If all else fails I'm just going to buy them online privately.

The surgery has messed my prescription up before - last time but one they issued me a script for regivedon (sp.), which is the combined pill, and which is unsafe for me to take...
