TW pain in boob

Twoshoesnewshoes · 26/02/2024 08:31

I have a pain in one boob, quite intense but only if there’s contact- eg if I lie on it in bed.

If I press the specific area it’s painful.
no lump at all, though the area does feel slightly more ‘fibrous’ 🤷‍♀️than the other side.

should I have it checked out or am I overreacting?

im late 40’s.

thanks

I'd say get checked. I had similar. Sharp "oof" when a colleague hugged me a bit too tight at Christmas and then dog leaning on me made it hurt. I obsessively checked my boobs for 2 weeks over Christmas and then went to GP. She felt "no obvious lump" but said generally lumpy and referred me. I have dense tissue ironically on the side I didn't complain about pain but was very relieved to have put my big girl pants on and got checked . I am very health anxious so it took a lot to go.

You are not going to know if it is something or nothing unless you get it checked out - please go!

Cameraclick · 26/02/2024 08:40

Hi OP I have the same issue. I went to GP who thinks she found a little cyst and has referred me to breast clinic to make sure. Ironically the pain has calmed down a bit but I’m still going to go and get checked because I have a strong family history of breast cancer so best to be safe! I’m 38 and the painful breast seems lumpier than the non painful one

Scooby2024 · 26/02/2024 08:42

I'm 34 and had/have this. Couldn't pin point it to hormones so went to docs and got referred. All was fine but had a scan etc (and they do say pain is usually nothing to worry about) but I would definitely go have it checked. I hate doctors but the whole experience was very quick and had an appointment within a week.

youdontneedtopoo · 26/02/2024 08:44

Get it checked. I thought I had a wrongly-fitted bra as it ached for a couple of months. It turned out to be breast cancer. Not trying to scare anyone, and mine is curable, but I wish I'd gone in straight away.

My breast cancer presented with pain. I didn’t go to the dr until there was actually a lump but had the pain for several months before. Get it checked - if it’s harmless your mind will be put at rest, if it isn’t the sooner you start treatment the better the outcome.

Twoshoesnewshoes · 26/02/2024 08:51

Thank you all for the quick responses, okay I will make an appointment with the doctor.
@bringonyourwreckingball @youdontneedtopoo im sorry for your experiences 💐

@Twoshoesnewshoes thank you - I should add that although treatment has been long and unpleasant I am completely fine now

Emmylou22 · 26/02/2024 09:13

To echo others, definitely get it checked. My first symptom of breast cancer was a very tender breast. This was just under a year ago and I'm so glad I got it checked when I did. I am now cured, thankfully.

Twoshoesnewshoes · 26/02/2024 10:10

Thank you, I’m glad you’re ok now.
i guess i feel that im overreacting because of my age, no lump and no family history, but these experiences have been really persuasive.

You're not overreacting at all. It's important to put your mind at rest, if anything. I had no family history and I'm young so it was completely unexpected. The positive thing to remember is statistically it's unlikely to be cancer. And if it is, the treatment options are excellent. Sending you positive vibes and strength.
