Constant periods - Peri or Covid? What else to ask GP

Hi I turned 40 in the summer and since having covid shortly afterwards, my very regular cycle became bonkers. I don't know if it's an age thing or covid thing!

Cycle used to be short, around 24 days. I started taking the Hana pill ages ago and although it says most women don't get any periods on this, I always have done while on it so GP said that's fine for me. I've taken it for over a year, keeping an eye on my BP and all else ok, my cycle lengthened to around 26 days, but apart from that everything was regular. Then I had covid and that same month I had 2 full length (for me) periods of around 6/7 days.

I remember this happened with my periods when I first had covid about 3 years ago, and settled back down a few months after by itself, but 2023's bout hit me a lot worse. However I'd have thought by now it would have settled down.

I went to the GP last month who have done bloods to check for peri, all of which have come back with no issues, so they said not peri and kind of shrugged it off. Said see how I go and come back if nothing settles. But since then I've been unable to get an appointment to follow up.

I'm currently having 2-3 short episodes of bleeding within a 28-30 day period. January I had 3 x 3 days of bleeding. This month I'm on my second bout of bleeding, the first was 3 days, currently it's day 4. Most I've had between bleeding is about 2 weeks.

I'm going to keep trying to get an appt. What else should I be asking the GP about if bloods are ok and they've already said not peri? Luckily I'm not in massive discomfort every time except mild cramps and aches, but it's obviously an inconvenience to keep unexpectedly bleeding, especially when I think 'ah I've just finished, maybe I'm done for this month' then it pops up again.

Thanks if anyone can advise where to go from here!

Did they also check thyroid? That can send periods haywire.

Thank you @BristolBorn! I will definitely ask about thyroid, that hadn't occurred to me as I didn't know it could affect periods.
