I need me some massive cycling shorts-style period pants for menorrhagia floods.

Any recommendations for pants that will actually hold a tidal wave quantity of period so I don’t have to change my bedding every night? At the moment I use a menstrual cup, sanitary pad, period knickers and lay a towel down, but still there are leaks.

Primark have period sports shorts, my daughter wears them and hasn’t had any leaks but not sure what they would be like with flooding.

Best ones I've got are heavy flow Modi Bodi ones where the padded part goes high up.

I've got to get more of that style because I'm now reaching that level of peri + endo flooding which my other pants aren't equipped to deal with.

Yeah I’m already using period knickers. I’m looking for something for really heavy bleeding.

Are these big cycling shorts style?

I’ve been looking at these but some of the reviews say the absorbent part I.e. the gusset is really narrow, which you can see in the photo.

I have the modi bodies cycling shorts style. But the seams are so odd it makes them quite uncomfortable. I wear them for nights but couldn't stand it during the day. But they do stay put and are extremely absorbent. Takes a few days to dry.

I use the Flowette Ultra 60ml ones. They are normal pant style, but the absorbant bit covers from the front to the back. They can cope with the flooding I experience.

Agree with these

I used to use those adult nappy things for incontinence on my worse days. And I also went to a naturopath who gave me supplements which lessened the flow

AttilaTheMeerkat · 22/02/2024 07:04

You need to treat the cause as well as the symptoms arising from this.

As someone who has suffered similarly I would urge you to see a gynaecologist asap and see if you are suitable for ablation surgery. This type of problem can take over your whole life and it’s miserable.

Porridgeislife · 22/02/2024 07:07

Agree that you need to look into the cause. Presumably you have tried tranexamic acid? It has no effect on me but a couple of naproxen at the onset of bleeding make a huge difference.

This level of bleeding will drain your iron stores and isn’t good for you, no matter how often GPs explain “it’s just part of being a woman”. Push for a gynae referral if you can’t get relief from the usual remedies.

Flora20 · 22/02/2024 07:08

I use heavy flow overnight wuka pants with full front to back protection, miles better than any other pants I've tried. They also do leggings etc but haven't tried those personally, worth looking at their website though.

You could try incontinence designed ones as for more volume. But my Dr hat must advise going to see your gp you'll likely be quite anaemic so that and the underlying cause both need addressing

Wehavealaughdontwe · 22/02/2024 08:02

I have horrendous periods that last weeks on end and have never leaked with the Here We Flo pants. Usually on offer of bogof. They sometimes sell them in Boots too which is a nice bonus to get some advantage cards points. I honestly can't recommend them enough

My anemia score was 7 a year ago and I dod get put on medication for 3 months. I wondered if it could be that bad again after a year.

They need a proper management plan, I lived with similar as a teen as my mum had awful periods I assumed it was normal. Wasn't medical school that I realised it really wasn't. Gp should be more than capable of suggesting means of fixing, normally via the contraceptive pill or the mirena coil. If not then they can refer to gynae. But if you're bleeding that heavily will need bloods checking and potentially iron supplements
