Painful mass in boob

Cameraclick · 18/02/2024 22:26

Hi all just wondering if anyone else has experienced this? I seem to have a mass in my left boob- it’s not really a single lump but just a general v lumpy area (not the same in the other boob). I noticed it because the area was tender to touch. It wasn’t there last month because I check every month.

my sister has recently had breast cancer and has brca mutation. I tested negative for it. I’m thinking (hoping) due to the fact my boob is tender, it’s more likely to be a cyst than anything scary. I’m 39 with 2 kids.

any similar experiences at all? I will be contacting the dr tomorrow.

Sounds hormonal.

If your sister has had breast cancer then you already know how important it is to get it checked. Call the GP today and put your mind at rest.
I regularly get painful cysts and can be as you described and I get them checked everytime.

I had a pain in the breast but no lump that I, or the GP, could feel. Was reffered to breast clinic who found two lumps right away but said that pain is an indicator those lumps were likely to be fibroids - had ultrasound and biopsy and they were correct. No further treatment needed. I hope you have a similar positive outcome OP, but take no chances and get checked out!

Thanks all. I’ve done my econsult so hopefully will be seen this week at the dr. I do think the tenderness is a good sign it’s likely to be benign. My sister said her lump was solid and not painful.

I’ve no idea if it’s hormonal though. I haven’t had a period in ten years due to the coil.

If you're not able to tell whether it's hormonal then you should definitely push for a referral to breast clinic, I was made to wait for three months to rule out anything hormonal (even though I knew at the first appointment that it wasn't linked to my cycle and had months worth of app data to prove it - bit frustrating but alls well that ends well!).

Please get checked, my close friend had breast cancer and her lump was painful.

Thanks for replies. I went to gp today who felt around and said she thinks she can feel a cyst but to be sure she’s referred me to the breast clinic. she could feel the cyst in a slightly different area to the pain though.

the tenderness isn’t actually as bad as it used to be. If it totally goes do I still go to the appointment - I don’t want to go there and then to be like - we can’t see anything out of the ordinary why are you wasting our time?!
