Consultant didn't mention fibroids on laparoscopy

I had a laparoscopy in August due to pelvic pain. The consultant has admitted that he did see 4 fibroids but failed to report at the the, as he doesn't believe they are causing issues. 1 of them is 7cm. An mri since has shown them. Thankfully I am now under a new consultant, who will be doing a hysterectomy shortly.
Where do I stand?
Thank you 🙏 xx

Where do you stand on what?
You're having an hysterectomy.. it will get rid of them.
I had 36 once.. along with Ovrian cyst that was as big as an orange with teeth .. bone and hair. ..had them removed then had an ectopic one tube and ovary removed.
conceived 8 years later.. then had hysterectomy.
What are you asking?.

Can they withhold that information from you. He saw them but didn't report on them.

Report to you when doing the procedure or to the GP via letter?

It should 100% be on the letter, or what would be the point of the procedure. Fibroids need reporting

It wasn't on the report to me or the gp

Should say *failed to report at the time

Ignore the first comment. It's quite obvious what your question is. I used to work in radiology/ultrasound and yes it should have been on the report. It should have been treated/looked into as possible cause, as evidenced by the fact you are now having some form of treatment (hysterectomy etc). I would contact the hospitals PALS team.

Thank you, I really appreciate your comment/advice.

I agree that you should report to pals. It doesn’t matter that he thought they wouldn’t cause you any issues. He’s carried out a procedure & part of that is ensuring you & other medical professionals involved in your care are aware of the findings. Surely correct documentation is also a require of the GMC. I despair of some of these so called professionals.

To add insult to injury, I originally saw him privately. He gaslighted me the whole time. Made me think it was all in my head 🥺

I didn't mean to be nasty..
I apologise but I'm 65 and back then consultants never ever told you much at all.
So we just accepted things.. that's the way was.

Moler- no worries. I just think we should be told what is in our bodies when investigations are done.
