Experiences of Cerazette - anyone on this or tried it?

After 20+ years of gynae issues a recent mri has picked up endometriosis.

Today I’ve seen a private endometriosis specialist, he eventually wants me to have a laparoscopy but in the meantime has recommended I try the Cerazette mini pill to help with the endo symptoms.

Obviously, I need to try something but at almost 51 I’ve never taken any type of hormonal medication and tbh I’m really apprehensive. I‘m worried about side effects especially bleeding (I have a failed uterine ablation and every monthly light bleed is agony I certainly don’t need anymore bleeding to kick that off), headaches (I suffer with hormonal aura migraines), nausea/stomach upsets (I have IBS) and weight gain (I’ve suffered from disordered eating for years).

The gynae said to try this instead of zoledex (spelling ?) as this drug, although better for endo (in his opinion) is a risky due to my aura migraines and possible stroke risk.

I appreciate that I’ll not know how I’ll react to the Cerazette until I try it but wonder if anyone has tried this?

I took cerazette due to endometriosis for a large number of years, only stopped it when I got to 55 as it is then assumed you are post menopause. When starting it, I had spotting for a number of months (be prepared for this but it won’t necessarily be painful at all). I then had no periods for years and no pain at all from endometriosis. I’d highly recommend it but you need to get through the first six months nuisance spotting to get the full benefit afterwards. .

I've had both zoladex and cerazette and I would definitely go for the cerazette option.

I was put on zoladex monthly injections after my first endo surgery as we were ttc a second DC. It was horrendous and put me into a deep depressive, energy lacking state for most of the time I was on it, presumably this is because it throws you into a menopausal state.

I've been on cerazette for over 10 years, the initial few months there was a bit of spotting ( presume you won't have breaks ) but once over that I have been pain free for that time, apart from when they replaced the cerazette with an allegedly identical cheaper pill and I had an episode of awful pain.

Thank you, I’ll definitely go for the Cerazette, I looked up the side effects of the zoledex and they did not look good.

rookiemere I really don’t think I could tolerate those kind of side effects especially as I am already struggling with perimenopause. The gynae I saw today did say it would plunge me straight into full menopausal symptoms-no thanks!
