Had a baby 2 years ago suffered a 3rd degree tear. Since then I swear I rarely feel like I fart normally mostly seems to come from the front. I've had a couple of occasions its been embarrassing.
I can't control them coming out they can be loud and smell.
I am doing pelvic floor exercises. What are peoples experience with this any advice?

Any air escaping your vagina absolutely shouldn't smell, make a GP appointment.

I have the same issue after a grade 3 tear. It’s worse leading up to my period. And when I stand up from sitting. It can be mortifying embarrassing and really loud! I recommend seeing a pelvic floor physio. I was doing lots of stuff to tighten mine and it was actually too tight, which was making it worse. You also need to be checked to make sure that you don’t have a grade 4 tear. It’s unlikely thats the case, as there would be poop coming out if your vagina, which would be obvious. Good luck with it .

Are they actually coming out of your vagina, or are they coming from your arse but "exiting through the gift shop" because of the way you're sitting?

Perfect28 · 23/01/2024 22:25

The smell is the concerning part, have you seen a GP?

cerisepanther73 · 23/01/2024 22:29

I 🤔 thought fanny farts don't have any nefarious odours attached to them?

You something new on mumsnet quite often

I think you definitely need to see the doctor or well women clinic maybe ?

even sexual health clinic, as its to with reproductive area..

As other poster said, the pelvic floor physiotherapists know their stuff when it comes to the pelvic organs and how they interact.

AllFadestoBlack · 23/01/2024 22:52

You could have a fistula between your rectum and vagina. Get it checked out.

Bagpuss91 · 24/01/2024 01:52

I did have physio to begin with and was checked to determine the level of tear.
I'll speak to my gp and try physio again maybe. I have felt it got better when I stop my exercises sometimes.

Own it. When it happens take a sweeping bow, and say, “I name that tune in one!”.

Notts90 · 24/01/2024 02:58

Sounds like a fistula. Can be a post birth complication, though more common in developing countries.

It's a connection between 2 organs, given you're passing gas through the vagina I'd be inclined to say it sounds like a rectovaginal fistula.

Best to ask GP, I was referred for am MRI as physical exams did not pick it up.

Good luck
