Bleeding for 2 weeks a month - is this normal?

Hi, I’m posting here to see if anyone else has experienced this sort of issue. I am 30 years old, no children and have never been pregnant.

Around 2018 I decided to have a break from the combined pill as it had poor effects on my mental health. Husband and I happy to use condoms so I could have a break from hormones. Tried this for a year, once my cycle settled I was bleeding for around 14 days of the month - about a week of brown light bleeding and then my normal period. Went to the GP as this seemed too much, I was sent for an internal investigation at the hospital and nothing was found. I was told by the GP basically that this is just my normal cycle - I spoke to my mum about it, and she said she is the same. So sounds like it is genetic.

I went back on the combined pill as was fed up with the bleeding, however 2 months ago I decided to stop again as I felt so depressed, had no sex drive etc. I know it will take time for my body to go back to normal, but I’ve already started on this cycle of bleeding for a week before my proper period. I guess my question is does anyone else have these super long natural cycles of bleeding?? Is it considered normal? I will go back to the GP but need to give time for the pill to fully wear off.

I should mention that I had the progesterone only implant when I was younger, this caused constant bleeding for the 2 years I had it. I also tried the progesterone only mini-pill before I restarted the combined pill, however this also caused constant bleeding. So feels like it must be hormone related? Are there any tests that can be done?
Sorry this ended up longer than I planned, tried to cover everything. Any experience/advice is appreciated.
