Vulvitis? What treatment?

I think I have Vulvitis, I have always been a bit sensitive (have eczema on other parts of me), using the wrong shower gel/body wash can cause itching and sores. Sex seems to aggravate it too, possibly due to my partner using different products on himself?

Anyway, started feel sore a day or 2 ago after being with DP at the weekend, I have a red sore patch in my inner labia which is very sore and itchy. I tried to put my eczema cream on it this morning when I was half a sleep, probably not a great idea and have probably made it worse 😬, is there anything I can put in it or should I just leave it?

I have often wondered if I have herpes but pretty sure it’s not that as they are not blisters, more red patches. Is there anything else it could be other than my skin just being over sensitive?

This is what I was advised by the consultant at GUM clinic - I went with the same issue and after swabs etc was told it was dermatitis.

Wash with water or aqueous cream, no showers gels or soap. This means forever, not just for now. No
washcloths either, and pat dry gently.
Apply an ointment every time you go to the toilet and morning and night - something like cetraben ointment, or even Vaseline. When it’s better you can switch to applying twice daily.
See a doctor if not getting better. Hydrocortisone can be used, but also it might need checking for infection.

Look up lichen sclerosis and see if that’s relevant. I have it, and the pale patches aren’t really an issue for me but everything else is.
steroid cream really helps.

Thank you, I have some cetraben here that I can try. I have tried thrush cream in the past but that seems to make things worse (stops the itching for a short time but doesn’t clear it up).

I use steroid creams for my eczema and that’s what I applied last night, it stopped the itching but I’m worried it may thin the skin around the area making things worse?

It possibly could be lichen sclerosis, I have suffered with it for a long time and used to think it was just thrush or eczema.
