Hi, i'm currently 8 months post op from my c section, i had one previously too that 1 year before that. I have gone up too a size 16/18 and im feeling so insecure about my weight and my c section pouch. im living in stretchy leggings and oversized t shirts as i just cant bare too put a pair of jeans on as my c section tummy is very visable. I have an 8 month old and a 2 year old so it feels impossible to get to a gym i have 0 spare time! is there any advice on how to reduce your c section pouch? Thank you xxx

Mine is more pronounced when I gain weight

I think the only answer is longer tops, and not to beat yourself about trying to lose weight quickly. Can you up the amount of walking with the dc in a buggy?

Dubbledup · 29/11/2023 09:36

Same as pp, it's more pronounced with more weight. With an 8 month old I'd just focus on healthy eating rather than restricting food and walk a lot with the buggy.

-Get checked for diastatis recti (you can google how to DIY check) and if you think you might have it then physio can help so see the GP and ask for a referral.
-Loosing weight is going to be biggest one; weight loss is mostly diet so don’t worry if you can’t get to the gym, I’m sure you’re active enough with the kids
-Surgery is also an option but you’ll probably need to loose weight first and it’s not going to be something you can get on the NHS

It never goes away, you just have to live with it unfortunately. Unless you can afford a tummy tuck.

I had three c sections over 10 years. 3+ years after the last one I am slimmer than I have been in the last 10 years, but still have the pouch. I don't think it is going anywhere unless I have surgery.

Losing weight has helped me feel more confident about it. I have embraced big knickers and learned to look at my self face on in the mirror and not sideways!

I was 8.5st,size 8, CS,2 years later, removal of gall bladder, appendix, laparoscopy for pv bleeding, plus all the scars where the drains had been. Did everything I could over 10 years, then forked out for an abdominoplasty.

After my first one it was all still pretty flat, after my second one they unfortunately ruined the scar and i have the pouch now. It’s still there even though I’ve lost 1.5st and I’m now my pre-baby weight. Even if lost even more weight I think itll still be there and Ive just learnt to live with it as a trade off for a safe delivery and two beautiful children. Boobs are still cracking 😁

I found binding my tummy helped and then doing gentle yoga and pelvic floor exercises helped. I also found jeans that were made for post baby that have a belly band built in that helps with muscle recovery and supports the pouch. I got them from Debenhams, it was a brand called I Am Denim. They seem to specialise in tummy friendly jeans for us mums. Hope this helps.

It is scar tissue unfortunately so it will be there for life although more pronounced with excess weight as pp have said. Mine is horrendous but I'm about two stone overweight right now.

ShesGotAHeartOfGold · 27/02/2024 14:49

I'm not overweight, size 10 and quite fit and active. Wouldn't mind being about more toned up but generally ok. I still have a very pronounced shelf after 3 sections. It's just part of me. I don't like it but it's there to stay. I've just changed the things I wear to accommodate it.
