Hycosy test

Hello,

I'm booked in on Wednesday for a Hycosy test. This is due to concerns re my fertility - my partner and I have been ttc for 6 months with no joy. When I was in my early 20's I ended up with Chlamydia twice (young irresponsible me I know) but it was treated promptly both times as I regular went for STI check ups.

Has anyone had any experience of a Hycosy? I'm so scared - not really about the procedure but about the results and really really hoping with all I have I will be all okay!

Hi I had a hycosy after 12 months TTC with no luck and I got pregnant immediately. I found the procedure really painful so I would brace yourself for it but obviously absolutely worth it. The same thing happened to the only other person I know who had it, we've both now got little babies which is lovely. I'd you have any questions let me know otherwise best of luck to you. (And not worry about the chlamydia if it was treated you'll be fine).

I had a HyCosy after 18 months without conceiving following an ectopic pregnancy and tube removal. I also have endometriosis. I didn't find it painful at all just a bit uncomfortable. Just like the PP I conceived the next month and my son is now one.

Thanks for the reply - my worry is the timeframe between the chlamydia infections. I tested positive in early Nov 2017, was treated and then tested positive June 2018. I was trying to find my previous STI checkups but couldn't so I guess my worry is did it ever actually clear from then until the next time I tested positive, but I'm hoping I did an interim test between. I've done loads of reading online and how it can cause PID if left untreated, but I would hope that if that was the case I would of known about it

I know it's easy to say but I would try not to worry, I think it only does damage if it goes untreated for years not just for months. Either way you'll find out tomorrow and they tell you on the spot how things are looking so not long to wait and I'm sure it'll be fine. Fingers crossed for you.

Hello, thanks for sharing this. So do you only have one fallopian tube?

@Spinkyttc how did you get on?

I don't know where to start. So she did the vaginal ultrasound first and said my endometrium seems thick for cycle day 11 and that there's a possible polyp. She then did the procedure and the dye wouldn't move past my uterus so she said that there's something causing an obstruction in my womb, likely a polyp. I'm heartbroken, as she said from the scan everything else seems great and my tubes look fine. Spent most of yesterday crying :(

I'm so sorry I just read this. I get the upset but it's great you've found out something is up and I take it they've referred you on and can help? Hope it works out for you.
