Tranexamic acid help - questions I forgot to ask GP

I have just been prescribed some to see if it will help with my very heavy bleeding (cause known) but forgot to ask the GP during the call how long I can take it for. Does anyone know if I can take it for the whole time I am bleeding, or can I only take it for 4 days? If you are only meant to take it for the four days, if the bleeding starts up again, can I take it again for four days?

I saw after the call that there is a liquid available which I wish was told about as I struggle to take tablets and don't know how big these are, or if they are capsules which are impossible for me to take. Does anyone know if they are bigger than an Ibuprofen for example?

Only 4 days. The tablets aren’t very big. It doesn’t really work great for me. It’s lots of tablets but it did allow me to do shopping etc. I couldn’t leave the house it was that bad. So it didn’t stop it…just made it more manageable.

Worked like a dream for me.

They aren't too big and are coated.

I was told not to use them more than three days. But they stopped the flooding by the end of the first day.

Only 3 days of usage then stop. I find if I use them properly taking the full dose for the first 3 days then they help, if I take them half heartedly then they aren’t as effective.

They worked miracles for me. I dud think they were quite big - larger than a standard oaracetamol caplet.

My GP held off prescribing as didn't think it would help. I agreed. Eventually said well just try them. I just couldn't understand HOW they'd work, surely if the womb lining had built up to such an extent it still needs to come out? That's not hiw it works, who knew.

It was honestly like turning off a tap diwn to a slow drip. Unbelievable

I will say, I got bloating and pain whereas my horrifically heavy periods were pain free.

Never needed the full dose for 4 days.

I was told 2 x 4 a day for 4 days. I would take 2, then 2 on the first day, then alternate 1 and 2 until end of second day. Then 1 x 4 day 3

Thank you all.
I remembered my surgery has an online request medication service so I have asked them in the box where you can ask for medication other than what's prescribed. Hopefully the pharmacy will phone, they have done before, as the phone just rang and rang when trying to phone them.
If it slows this down to a slow drip I'd be grateful. Been on the loo for most of this morning and feel really quite wiped and teary.
